What to eat as a woman beginning to lift weights?

I've just begun lifting heavy weights in the gym and I LOVE it! However I have found myself wanting to binge a lot! I think this is caused by hormones, not eating enough or not eating the right amounts of foods... I'm not sure...
I was wondering how I could figure out how much and of what I actually need to eat in order to eat enough, get enough nutrition and resist the urge to binge! (As a previous sufferer of BED).
So when you started lifting what did you eat? Do you now have to eat more? Did you experience the urge to binge?
Also, what are some good snack ideas? So far I seem to be eating apples, fat- free yoghurt and/ or nuts (walnuts, almonds, peanuts)
Thanks everyone!
