Fitbit One compatible with chest strap HRM?

I think I am going to get a Fitbit one to track my daily activity but have seen from reviews that it isn't great at tracking workouts. I do 3/4 exercise classes a week and think it would be best to get a chest strap HRM to track those- are there any that are compatible with the fitbit one or the programmes that the fitbit connects to so that I can make the whole process as easy as possible?

Fitbit will do daily walking around, and add "exercise" calories based on your level of activity.

But you're right - HRM is the way to go for exercise. I use a Polar H7 chest strap; this syncs with my iphone using the Endomondo app, which in turn syncs beautifully with MFP and back to Fitbit.

It's all quite elegant really. I can use Endomondo to track anything from cycling to weight lifting.

Fitbit is basically just a pedometer. It can only track "workouts" that involve some form of taking steps, because it registers jarring movements as steps. It's a good thing to have when you are just starting out, and what you do for exercise is low in intensity. However, when you do eventually "graduate" to doing high intensity workouts, it's best to retire the fitbit rather than try to juggle using it and a HRM, because that will only lead to really wonky TDEE figures.
