Only makes a difference if it makes your lunch come back up. I'm pretty sure it all personal preference. I can't workout with food in my stomach. I have to go fasted.0 -
I guess it depends on when you ate breakfast and your body.
I take lunchtime fitness classes and I try to eat about an hour before, even if its only a few bites of my lunch. My blood sugar gets too low if I don't and will see dark spots or get lightheaded during exercise. I prefer to have an empty stomach though so if I forget then I eat something really small. Last week it was a 16g halloween sized bag of peanut m&ms about 20 minutes before (approx. 7 pieces). Food is fuel, I don't eat a big breakfast so the snack is important for making sure I have the energy to burn. Hope this helps!0 -
If walking is very intense exercise for you then it may cause you muscle cramps if you work out with full stomach. If that is not intense, or you don't ate too much and just have a small bite of something then it's prolly fine and nothing will happen.
Heard about people say don't go swimming with full stomach? Cos you may get cramps and drown. Well, that is same concept. Walking won't make you die but in worst case you may fall and brake a leg, in best case it may be just very painful for few seconds. But if you are doing intense exercises right after eating you are gambling to have a cramp, so either do it on empty stomach or wait a hour or two after you ate.0 -
i like splitting it in half, i dont want to feel weak or famished while walking- and i enjoy a replenishing snack when i'm done. so i say do both0

What you're eating for lunch makes more of a difference than when you do your brisk walk.0

I do a 3-mile walk several times a week and prefer to go shortly after dinner - on a full stomach. Since it's gotten dark early in the evening, I get too creeped out to go after dinner. I'm trying to go during the day and prefer not to go without any food in my system.0

walking is great for your fitness...as to when you do it and your timing of meals...that makes no difference whatsoever. I cycle during my traditional lunch hour and I eat lunch afterwards at my desk...I usually have a mid morning snack though to make sure I have enough quick energy to get my 15 - 16 miles in.0

Thanks. I have a good breakfast, by good i mean filling and healthy at 8 am. A snack at 10 (yogurt with fuit, fruit smoothie, something of that sort) and lunch at 12. So by no means am I extra hungry, and brisk walking is not hard on me. Thanks again everyone!0

I can walk with no problem after eating a meal, but if I am running I can have only a tiny snack or nothing, else I cramp up. Whichever works for you!0
