I'm Stuck!

On August 15th I decided it was time to loose weight, at the time I weighed 230 pounds. My wife had used MFP so I downloaded the ap and haven't missed a day of logging since. As of today I am at 200 pounds but I feel like I am stuck here. When I was loosing quickly every day or two it would seem like I was down a pound or two but for the last two weeks I have been stuck at 200, I can't seem to make any progress. From the time I started using MFP I always try to stay 200 - 400 calories in the green at the end of the day because I don't weigh or measure I just guess and figure the extra calories are my cushion if I don't guess right. In any case what I am doing has been working but I seem to have stalled. Any thoughts?

are you my husband? he's going through the same thing! however, he doesn't weigh anything. are you counting things like olive oil when you cook? are you drinking lots of water? maybe you need to adjust your macros and try eating at a different calorie range?

2 weeks isn't a plateau. But I would start weighing and measuring everything. As it is, nutrition information on a package can be off by 20%. Add that to you just geusstimating portion sizes and your cushion can easily be disappearing and then some. But you shouldn't be disappointed in your loss. 30 pounds in just a few months is awesome!!!

I try to count everything I eat but what makes me think that it's not a problem of measurements is that I am still doing exactly as I was doing when the weight was falling off. I will have to say that I do drink less water than I was and I wonder if that contributes. Over the last few days I have made a point of drinking more water and we will see if that helps.

Cut more calories. Increase the accuracy of your logging. That's all there is to it.

The more weight you lose, the less of a margin of error you have. I still don't think you're exactly in a plateau but if the scale continues to stick after a couple more weeks, give measuring and weighing a try. It could make all the difference.

I was stuck at 200lbs for a couple of weeks too , it seems to be quite a common place to get stalled . Happy to say I've cracked the barrier so just persevere & you will get there !!

Well done on your progress so far.

Make sure you change your daily calorie limit to adjust to your new weight - you need fewer calories the less you weigh.

Go to settings -> update diet/fitness profile -> save changes. You might see your number go down. (*)

(*) having said that, I've just done it myself and gone down 10 calories. So thanks for that, pal :grumble:

MFP figures a Calorie deficit into your daily goal. If you eat exactly what it says you should lose your goal.

When I hit a Plateau I found changing things up gave me a boost. Sometimes it was actually increasing my calories by a couple of houndred a day for a week. Once it was changing the type of exercises I was doing.

Looks like all I needed to do was post on the forum to get things going again, down another 2 pounds. I think it probably had to do with how much water I was drinking, got back in the habit of drinking more water over the last few days and that seems to have helped.
