Logged my Emotional Eating Yesterday...

What an eye-opening experience. I got some bad news and immediately went food shopping where I bought some of my favorite junky snacks. It was the first time I've ever sat down and logged everything I ate after a bad day. Usually I just say "screw it, I'll start up again tomorrow"... but there have been too many of those days lately. Seeing how I was able to completely de-rail my day by making one or two bad choices is really motivating.

I was the same way and once I started logging everything (the good, the bad and the ugly) it really opened my eyes.

GOOD FOR YOU. I mean it. I have to keep myself honest, so I opened my diary for everyone to see, the good AND the bad.

Work on changing how you react to certain situations, I know it's not easy. It's taken me 5 years and I'm still working on it, but I'm getting there.

I used to be one of those 'screw it, I'll start tomorrow' kind of people when I had a bad day too. then someone on here said 'your body keeps an accurate food log, even if you dont' and it really hit me. Unless its a day where im sick in bed all day, i log even bad days, it helps me stay accountable and get a good idea of why im not losing weight.

It's so true. I've been so upset that the scale hasn't been moving and I've always kind of known why, but now I SEE why. So true about your body, too. Just because you're not logging it doesn't mean it goes away, even though we wish it would! haha

I seem to have reduced my binging simply by logging as I do it. I'm all set and ready to go, reaching for the next snack cake. But if I start logging it, realize that I don't have to ruin everything by force feeding food that doesn't even taste good after being so full, anyway.
  • I have found what works for me (most of the time). I weigh myself every morning - very controversial as you must be able to handle a 1-3 lb increase even if you have followed your food and exercise plan. I log food and exercise and read these motivational posts to start the day. I find that this process keeps me from shoving things into my mouth - I have to face the scale in the morning and then log the crap I ate.

Make TODAY your best friend and toss tomorrow to the curb.

Logging is the best way to face your demons.
A month ago I was on vacation and failed to log my
3x pint of ice cream endeavors. If I had logged at
least one, the last two might not had happened!!

You did excellent by logging .. the good, bad and ugly
being logged leads to success. Keep up on logging,
    things will workout. :)

That's the point we have to reach to really wake up. I used to keep my diary private, but not anymore. I'll have to say on Saturdays I miss logging a lot because of all day football and running, but I do know for a fact that I eat way under my calories on those days. I keep my go to foods handy and I know those calories by heart.
