C25K Runners-How much Protein do you eat?

I am on my second round of C25K and feel fatigued a lot while running. Someone suggested that my protein levels might be too low. Have you heard of this? How many grams of protein do you eat each day?

I tried to reach at least 60 grams of protein a day. That's not a lot, but sometimes I wouldn't even meet that. If you only feel fatigued while running and not after running, I would say maybe you are just pushing yourself too much. Do you feel more like your muscles are getting fatigued or do you feel more like you are having trouble catching your breath?

I just do not have a lot of strength throughout the day and while running (strange, but I feel better after running). I was diagnosed with Celiac disease about 6 months ago, and have malnutrition due to that. I was thinking that the expended energy might be causing me to be more tired. I run 3-4 times a week.

    115g
I use the 1g per pound of LBM to calculate.

Not a C25K runner but I'm a marathon runner. It's most likely not your protein intake, but carbs. Runners are encouraged to have a higher percentage of carbs. Try upping that macro and see how you feel.

That may be it also. As a Celiac, I don't get many carbs- I also find that carbs make me hungry. I need to work on that some.

Looking at you diary, your calories are decent but may be too low. My split is 30/50/20 for protein/carbs/fats, meaning I consume over 200g of protein a day as I weight 181lbs currently. 50% carbs? Yes, the primary source of readily expendable energy is carbs. Protein is good, very good but dont discount carbs. They are critical.

Let me put it another way. Protein is the oil of your car, carbs are the diesel or petrol. Thats how important they are.

Just to point out, I'm a runner, training for ultramarathons from C25K so been down the road you are travelling now!
