Sayonara, scale! At least for a while.

Ok, so I have been having a really hard time getting back on this wagon in the weight loss equivelent of the Oregon Trail and I am determined to not let it beat me this time. I have been thinking what is causing me to give up so quickly and I have determined it is the number on the scale. Now, we all know the scale is just a number and we are more than that, yadda, yadda, yadda, BUT when you are in this lonely battle it is hard to hear those motivating voices as you look at that DREADED number.

So, I have decied that because the numbers stress me out SOOOO much I am going to put the scale away and track mainly my measurments weekly. I am thinking maybe every other week I can bring out the scale so I still have an idea that what I am doing is working. I am thinking this might ease things a little and I can begin to concentrate more on how I feel and look than what a number says on a cold, impersonal scale this is usually different depending on which scale I step on. Geeze, they are so inconsistent. They like to play with our emotions.

Do any of you do something similar to this or is this just a crazy idea?

I understand your frustration with the scale. For me the number on the scale has become an obsession at times. Thankfully my scale had an unfortunate accident while I was cleaning a few weeks ago...it shattered into hundreds of glass bits. I have decided that weigh-in's at my bi-weekly Plasma donations will be enough to keep me on track.

It use to annoy me with day to day fluctuations of gaining 0.1kg or 0.2kg or 0.3kg in between days...but my weekly average would always fall and my sunday weigh ins were down as long as I ate normally on Saturdays. Your 7 day average is the most important number in a long term fat loss.
