I feel funny after I eat carbs.

Hi!

I've been having some problems after eating, lately. I believe this is at it's worst after I eat lunch, which is normally a wholewheat turkey sandwich and a protein bar.
I feel dizzy, hazy, I cant focus, some things look like they are vibrating, my pupils dilate....I feel like I'm drunk or high.

It doesn't happen EVERY time I eat this meal, but it has happened about ten times since August.

Does anyone have an idea what this could be? I would appreciate any help! :flowerforyou:

other details:
I am 18
I have PCOS
I am 10-15lbs overweight.

If something makes you dizzy, hazy, unfocused, etc, why do you continue to eat it every day?!

I don't know what it could be, but I'd start by eating something different for lunch and seeing if the problem continues.

You could have a wheat/gluten intolerance. Try eliminating it for two weeks & see what happens when you start eating it again.

I have had that in the past as well. You should schedule for a glucose tolerance test. I was diagnose with being pre diabetic after that happened. It in control now. I have not developped the disease as yet (diabetes).

I agree with the gluten issue, I've heard a few times that gluten intolerance can potentially cause those symptoms, I doubt it's just "carbs" per say because that's a way too broad category, I mean many many foods are high in carbohydrates - but you could also have been experiencing that due to something totally unrelated and your lunch has been coincidental lol... After all we aren't doctors here for the most part

Maybe "carbs" isn't the problem. You could be gluten intolerant?

you could also have an allergy to wheat (or anything else you are putting on your sandwich)

I get the same symptoms prior to a migraine, except I will usually see dots as well as many of the others you mentioned. I cannot eat anything with MSG in it as it is a trigger for my migraines, so if it were me, I'd question the turkey. Just an idea, but I hope you figure it out! :)

It got really bad for my dad, who would have to pull over on the freeway and take a nap when it happened, because he couldn't even drive anymore. Then he found out he was diabetic. Since then, he's eaten the appropriate amount of carbs and sugars that his doctor recommends, takes a low dose of metformin, and has never had any of these incidents since. :)
