How do you keep yourself from missing someone?

It's weird, because I totally have a hard time liking....well, anyone. I like keeping just a few friends (and by few I mean 1-2) close and I rarely ever miss anyone, I'm just the detached kind and I've never felt deeply emotional about anybody.
I joined work last year (right out of college) with the intention to stick around for a year or so and leave to pursue a Masters' degree, so I planned on not really forming any great friendships. It's not hard for me, I'm a private person and not too keen on making friends. Besides, I was literally the only female, everyone was atleast 10 years older than me, so it seemed hard to have a friend anyway.
But the guy whose guidance I began training under, sort of like an informal mentor, became very close to me. We shared very similar views on a lot of things, and he kind of brought back the fun I missed when I was younger, having grown up in a protective household. He always takes care to see I'm alright and cheers me up when I'm feeling low. I've grown incredibly attached to him and now I found out he's leaving for a month to our head office even before I do, which means today is probably the last I'll see him. It's real sudden and it's driving me bananas! I kind of want to tell him to stay atleast for this month but I don't want to be so selfish.

Drink until you forget :drinker:
Kidding...
Tell him now, see what he says. If not find away to keep in contact as much as possible. Make sure you set up some time for visits. If hes not willing to do this, then he wont miss you, so that means, move on, sorry.0 -

Oh he told me first, that he'd really be missing me. In fact I'd kind of hardwired myself into leaving and not missing him so it seemed strange when he brought it up. He keeps asking me if we'll ever be able to meet again, which makes it hard because I don't want to think about it. He doesn't want to go, but those are for reasons entirely personal and not related to me.0 -
Then dont miss him...stay in contact...make time for visits. If you dont want to...back to back to option one :laugh:0
