Hello everyone,

Is it true that standing up helps you lose weight...rather than just sitting down at your desk Mon to Friday, 9 to 5. Does it help you burn more calories?.

Shall i be getting a standing desk? Wonder if anyone has tried this.

thanks

From my experience, I would say the answer is yes. I have worked in jobs that had me standing for 8 hours per day and others where I sat all day. I definately had more energy at the end of the work day when I was standing than when I sat all day and I just generally moved around more. I also noticed that when I was standing at work, I also spent more time standing at home. You become comfortable on your feet, there for you move around more in general. I would recomend that if you are going to go to a standing desk from sitting all day, that you consider shoes carefully. I always choose shoes on how they fit not how they looked. When you stand all day at work you want a good pair of walking shoes with good arch support not shoes that "goes with this outfit".

^^THIS -- shoes are uber important!! i have standing desk... but i have the same question, but one thing i know for sure... my posture is 100% better... because i don't sit, so i don't "pooch" my stomach out and i can tell that standing has made a real difference! i have heard that you should start slowly and work yourself up... that said, i started standing all day from day one and haven't sat in over 6 mths. :)
