Eating Supper Later in the evening

I eat three healthy meals and choose healthy snacks. I go to work and then have a night class until 7:00pm. Sometimes I eat supper as late as 8:00. Will that eventually lead to weight gain or less weight lost. I go to bed around 10:30-11. Should I be eating suppper earlier in the night?

You should try to eat earlier in the evening, but as long as you aren't eating within an hour or 2 of bedtime then you're probably ok. You might try doing 30 minutes of stretches and aerobic exercises before going to bed to counteract the meal. As long as you're getting a decent night sleep, you should be fine.0

Meal timing does not affect weight loss. Your metabolism doesn't shut down at night. Breakfast or no breakfast. Three meals a day or six small meals. Eating late or not eating after 7. None of them will have any major effect on weight loss.
Choose a routine that works best for your schedule and allows you to stay within your calorie goal for the day.0 -

 :noway:
Weight loss is calories in vs calories out and has nothing to do with when you eat those calories. I regularly eat supper late and I have a bedtime snack every night. Do what works for you and what is sustainable for your life. If it works, then your golden....if not, then it's time to change things up0 -

The only thing that will lead to weight gain is eating more calories than you burn. You can eat anytime you want, anything you want, and whatever you want, as long as you eat with a calorie deficit.0 -
I eat probably 2/3 to 3/4 of my calories within an hour of bedtime (usually less than an hour). Eat when you're hungry and when it works for your life. As long as you are in a deficit overall, it's fine. The only reason not to eat before bed is if it gives you heartburn or nightmares or some other sort of discomfort. In terms of weight loss, it only matters that you maintain a caloric deficit. It doesn't matter when you eat the calories (or how often or what they are).0

Why? I sometimes have a snack right before I go to bed and I'm losing weight just fine, and I sleep well too.0 -

Exactly. I just had my 693 calorie dinner a half hour ago. I'm now IN bed eating another 280. That's 973 of my 1435 total for the day consumed within 30 min of bedtime-kinda like every day. I'm doomed I guess. It's a miracle I've lost any weight at all.0 -
It doesn't matter when you eat, just how much you eat.
I went to the gym from 5:30-7:30 tonight, and since about 8 pm I've had about 1200 calories. Most of the time dinner is my largest meal of the day and I've lost about 25 lbs, just stay within your calorie range and you will lose weight.0 -
Okay this definitely makes sense. Maybe I shouldn't weigh in the morning after a big supper then. Thanks0
