Suggestions for upcoming 5

I'll start this off w/ 'I know I'm overthinking it' but I do that a lot -- so here goes.
I'm signed up for a 5k next Sunday (early Turkey Trot) and have been doing the couch -> 5k for about 8 weeks now, and have had to repeat some weeks since I couldn't breath well. I'm at week 5 now, jog 5, walk 3, repeat 3x and the last 5 is a killer. I know it's going to get better , since a few weeks ago was stuck even at 3 minutes.
So-- my question is How can I plan for the best 'run' possible for this 5k next week? Skip the longer jogs and focus on the shorter bursts where I can go a bit faster and still have the energy for walking faster? I'd like to get the best time I can, considering my current level.
Thanks for any input/suggestions you may have.

I used my first 5K to establish a baseline to compare my progress. I didn't train esp hard, didn't even get through week 3 of C25K, but I finished the 5K in 44:01. Good place to start for me.
Just do your best, then work to improve.0
