Hello Everyone,

My Name is John from Pittsburgh. While Ive never been obese in my life, Ive always been unfit. Ive decided to take the mental and physical steps required to change that. I came across this site while searching for a calorie counter app on my phone. So far I'm loving it. The layout and U.I. is far easier to use than other apps I have used in the past. I'm currently going through the P90X workout routine ( again ) and this is a great way to keep track of calories. I'm having a hard time understanding calorie intake. It seems like 5 different websites are telling me 5 different things. I don't know whether or not to consider my self sedentary or not. While I do sit behind a computer for 8hrs a day, I'm also burning close to 1000 cals by running in the morning and doing my P90X workouts at night. Maybe if you have a few minutes you could lend me some advice. Here's my situation:

I'm 190lbs 5'-11" (Trying to get down to at least 175lbs) On an average day I will run in the morning ( about 3 miles and roughly burn about 400 cals, usually on a P90X strength day ie arms legs etc.), Sit behind a computer for 8hrs at work (bleh), then do P90x for about an hour ( the manual says you can burn roughly 600 cals an exercise). I calculated my BMR and it came out to 1864 cals. I'm not sure how to account for all these calories burned during exercise. Also the app on my phone suggested my daily intake of calories should be 1330, which seems very low. This has to be from choosing sedentary as the lifestyle.

Anyways if someone could point me in the right direction as to how many calories I should be taking in a day or maybe an easy to remember formula to use for future reference as my weight starts to drop that would be awesome ( I assume as weight drops, calorie intake should fluctuate too). Thanks and can't wait to look around here !

- John

p.s. For anyone doing the P90X program, Have you found that the diet guide included with the dvds is over/under estimating actual food caloric content?
