14 weeks pregnant

Hi everyone. I've been a member here for a while but sadly got out of the swing of things. I'm now starting up again but I'm 14 weeks pregnant and a little unsure about the fitness side of things. My midwife has given me the go ahead to do 30DS (She does it herself so is familiar with it). She did say it might be hard on my joints so I may need to modify at times, and to make sure I listen to my body. Just wondered if anyone has done 30ds while pregnant and what your experiences were? Also if anyone has any other recommendations? Thanks in advance

Hi! I'm 18 weeks pregnant with my third baby, and I've been exercising the whole way through. I did the same with my first, but got a bit lazy with my second and put on loads of weight (which is why I joined MFP in the first place lol).
The advice is to carry on doing whatever exercise you've already been doing, but obviously be careful, and at about 12 weeks you have to stop doing abs things and lying n your back for too long.
Your body produces a hormone called relaxin which can make you more flexible, but that can mean you end up injuring yourself, so you need to be careful not to overdo certain things.
This week I've done Zumba and 3 gym sessions where I've done weights, squats, lunges, cross trainer, stepper, treadmill and bike. I'd usually do aerobics on a Sat but it was cancelled this week. When everyone else does abs exercises at the end I do weights. I also do spinning some weeks, depending when I can fit it in. I'm going to the gym later today too.
I don't know much about 30ds, but I'd assume it has lots of abs exercises in it, so I'd adapt those. I'm planning on looking on YouTube for antenatal workouts so I can do some stuff at home (hubby does shift work so sometimes I can't get to the gym as I'm alone with the kids. I work part time).0 -
Thank you so much, that is a brilliant help. I was wondering about weights as I love them but wasn't sure. Yes there is ab work on 30ds but I will modify. I think I'll mix it up a little though. Going to write out a weekly exercise plan of different things so that it doesn't get too samey and boring. How to you manage calories? I don't want to diet and deprive baby of essential nutrients so not sure calorie counting would be a good idea.... Was just thinking making sure I'm eating the right things rather than cutting back.0

Test said I am not pregnant but I am not sure it's right. I'm so not having another baby at this age.0

I have a personal trainer - weights are fine! Just don't do anything you wouldn't usually do!
As for calories, my goal is 1800 which actually still puts me at a slight weight loss (you know, in 5 weeks you'd weigh x). Before pregnancy my goal was 1600 so I just upped it slightly. I based it on TDEE - 20% and then decreased it a little, so I could actually get away with eating about 2000 I think.
I'm pretty active, aside from the gym, I have a 2 and 4 year old already so they keep me on my toes, and I work part time as a secondary school teacher so rarely sit down at work, plus do break/lunch duties.
I agree swimming is good. I'm trying to swim more often, although our local pool is a bit manky!
What's your due date? Around May 18th I guess? Mine is April 20th, Easter Sun! A good excuse to eat lots of choc eggs0 -
Also get on to the Fit, Fabulous and Pregnant board to link up with other mums and see how they're exercising and calorie counting and congratulations!0

I would really not try to lose weight while I am carrying another life.0

No-one mentioned weight loss. I personally want to maintain fitness and avoid gaining excessive weight. Pregnancy isn't illness, you can still exercise.0
