Any wildland firefighters?

Hey all!
I've been with MFP since this summer, but I always lose motivation a few weeks in. I'm considering redirecting my career towards wildland fire again, and need to get in shape for it! I did the initial training and had previously worked on prescribed burns, but got some nasty tendinitis before I could complete the pack test. It took a couple of months to really heal completely, and I started work as a naturalist and later a fisheries biologist on the commercial fishing boats in Alaska (Think Deadliest Catch). 3 years of that is enough, and I'd like to get back to land for a bit! Ideally I'm looking for a job as a biological science technician doing wildlife surveys, who is also certified for fires.
I need a reason other than just losing weight to finally reach my goals. Working towards the pack test is a good motivator!!! I'd love to connect with other firefighters and get some input on where the industry stands now. I have a higher level of fitness than a lot of people my weight, but not what I would consider adequate for surviving a 14+ day deployment. I'd really appreciate training tips!
Thanks!!
Rachel
