Hi there! I've been a user of MFP for years now (I've had several accounts in the past!), but I tend to tuck myself out of sight.
I have a question for ladies regarding the contraceptive pill.
I was taking Marvelon for 3 months back in 2012, until January 2013. I stopped taking it due to weight gain (over 14lbs in 3 months, I couldn't fit into my clothes, my skin was awful and I had horrendous mood swings). I'm now 165lbs, and have literally just gotten home from the Doctor, who prescribed me Rigevidon. He also mentioned the weight I have gained in the past year, and recommended I lose a little and keep an eye on it, as I am almost tipping over the edge of a 'healthy' BMI.
Whilst taking it, my diet remained the same: Lots of water, lots of tea, fruit, veg, healthy amount of meat but I don't ban junk food completely. I was exercising quite a lot - I owned a husky and used to walk her for miles every day, cycle, etc.
I was at a loss as to why I was gaining so much weight, when I had maintained a steady 140lbs for a long, long time!
So my questions are as follows:
Any tips for avoiding even more potential weight gain? Have you ever suffered this yourself? Personal stories?
I know the pill is such a personal thing, and it's different for everybody, but I'm just hoping that there might be something I can do to prevent this happening again!

By eating properly and exercising more, I lost about 6-7kg right after going on the pill (Microgynon 30).
Since, I have gained 30kg, but attribute that to a more sedentary lifestyle (not walking from one side of a uni campus to the other!) and very poor eating habits.
Now I am watching what I eat again and exercising more again, I am losing once more. So I don't think the pill is having any effect on my weight.
Maybe try a different pill?0
