Can anyone shed some light on the ACTUAL amount of calories and or protein in BCAA supplements?

There are entries with no calories, with no protein, with 50-60 calories per "scoop", 10-15 grams "protein" and so on. The ones specifically i am referencing are the Amino-X.

Of course none of these types of supplements seem to have this information on the bottles. :(

BCAA are the components of protein; they are not protein per se. They would go through the same catabolic pathway as protein though, so I'd assume that they contain the same number of calories per gram as pure protein (4 cal/g). So one scoop of Amino-X = 10 g = 40 calories.

The idea of using them as a nutritional supplement is that these are the amino acids that your body can't make and to make protein you need a sufficient amount of these in your diet.

I don't think you understand the question....

All of these products are simply supplements and say "not a significant source of blah blah blah" or "not been evaluated by the FDA". They SAY zero calories yet have sugar and other ingredients (including obviously amino acids) SURELY thy must have calories.

Drinking 4-5 scoops a day could potentially be undoing my entire 1/2 lb a week deficit is why I'm asking.

It's kinda annoying, but I've just been logging it without that info. Guess it's not enough to impact anything.

Eta: No way, I wouldn't worry about it holding you back at all! The most I see is 10cals or so and it's just aminos, so WIN.

I'm on the same 1/2lb week goal.

Why are you drinking 4-5 scoops a day? If you are getting adequate COMPLETE protein elsewhere in your diet, outside of prepping for a major powerlifting/bodybuilding competition, I don't see that would need that much!
