Metabolism has slowed... motivation needs to stay high!

Hello all,

My name's Janice. I currently weigh about 161-162 lbs, and have a goal weight of 145 or 150. I have always had trouble losing weight, as I come from a fat family, have to keep my blood sugar even (not diabetic -- just get shaky when hungry), and have a pattern of losing motivation and eating chocolate. I'm 47. It seems like in the past couple of years, my body wants to hold onto the weight even more than before. I used to weigh 145, and worked very hard to maintain that weight for 6-7 years until I was 45. If I gained a couple of pounds, I went for a long jog, clamped down on the food intake to the bare minimum, and added a workout. In a few days, the extra weight would go away. Now, those things don't seem to work anymore. I need to be very careful about what I eat in order to even keep my weight around 160. In addition, I've had plantar fasciitis (foot problems) and shoulder problems that have made it impossible for me to do my preferred workouts of jogging, Body Pump, kettlebells, and similar. Now my foot problems are under control, and I am recovering from shoulder surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff. I now want to get my eating under control and make it back to under 150 lbs. I would love to weigh 145 again with lots of muscle, but I don't know if that's feasible for me anymore. So 150 is my goal. I plan to walk a lot, do stair stepping in front of the TV, and work my way to a more rigorous workout as my shoulder recovers. I also like doing yoga. I'm looking for people to help me not slip up and eat the wrong things when I'm frustrated. Frustration and anxiety are the biggies for me, that send me running to the supermarket bakery. I tend to eat lots of protein and veggies. My problem now is to get the portions down far enough that my body will let go of the weight. If there's anyone on here who would like to be friends, please let me know!
