progress

So its been a solid year since i started logging my weight...

So far its been a hard year.

My job makes me work difficult hours, the chef cooks unhealthy food for us for free (usually chips) as its the cheapest option

And somehow I have managed to lose 36 lbs and after finding 56 inch trousers a little tight, My 50 inch trousers now slide off at a moments notice (im tailoring them down to 49 inches tonight!)

This is a big thing for me as the most depressing moments for me are going into a shop to find that their largest size (usually a 48inch) is too small.

Well now i can fit into 48inch (i can lose the other inch with some more effort and eating less bloating foods) i can finally buy the clothes i want to buy... My suit jacket for work has been tailored twice now and there's no bulging at the front (still 56inch chest but i don't care)

What finally worked for me was to stop listening to all the advice about whats best for me and listen to my own body then subject that to some controls.

I found that by eating little to nothing throughout the day (sedentary job) I don't get hungry and then don't pick...

In the evening I set myself a 1 hour time limit to eat whatever i like (within the maximum calorie allowances for that day) and go to bed on a full stomach, content.

I know a lot of you will say breakfast is the most important blah blah... but my advice to anyone out there is to find what works for you.

Then tailor that to be healthy.

My reasoning is that some humans would have been hunter gatherer types who picked on berries through the day then ate a larger meal later on and some would have only had access to the hunt

and perhaps, genetically speaking, i am a hunter only.... designed to go all day on reserves and then eat to fill at night after catching.

I am finally making progress (most of which in the last 5 months) and am really starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

best wishes to everyone else struggling.

Great job on finding what works for you! It's definitely not a traditional approach that you have taken but if it makes you healthier - congrats :)
  • Great! A 36-pound loss is making a wonderful difference in your life.
I suggest that you take your own 'lunch' to work.
Perhaps you could poll your coworkers to get requests for vegetable plates.
    Keep up the good work,
and Best Wishes for the remainder of your Weight Loss Journey!

Thanks for the suggestion... I have started taking my lunch to work and pre-preparing my evening meals for when i finish.

I feel healthier just by eating cleaner the last 2 days (lots of oats, those nature valley things are both delicious and relatively healthy plus easy to sneak in every 2 hours at work)
