I was a dumbass. Like most teenagers.

LOL Me too. I've since come to believe that boys don't mature until the age of 25, until then we're as dumb as a box of rocks.

I was very intelligent, but my common sense took awhike to catch up. lol

Varsity softball and football cheerleader. Smart but didn't apply myself. I ditched school so much my senior year I got a letter saying I wouldn't graduate if I missed any more days. I still have nightmares that I didn't graduate. Oh, and I was suspended three times for fighting

Pretty much the same person I am now. More Hair. 42 years younger. A little less confident. A little more idealistic.

Awkward, very awkward!! I like to think I was a cool geek but in truth I was probably just a geek like I am now ha!!

And I loved my sports; I was in the high school football, rugby, cricket, basketball and athletics teams

I too was a 'box of rocks' and lazy even though most of my classes were Honors/Advanced/AP. Could've graduated at 16 but chose not to because I felt that I needed more time to mature (which ironically, was a very mature decision). Had zero male friends at my school (all attended other schools). My role was Mr. friend-zoned "you're like a brother", but in hindsight it was a good thing because most of those girls only wanted thugs and knuckleheads and I didn't need that headache.

I was a shy and introverted band nerd. Not much has changed about me. Now I am a shy and introverted lifting nerd.

What were you like in HS?

And if you could go back what would you do different?
I was practically invisible. There were 500 in my class, 2000 in the school (all guys) and I had to catch a bus 25 miles home so no extracurricular activities were possible.

I never like to dwell on what I would do different.
  • I moved a lot so I went to 3 different high schools.

Freshman Year: One of the guys (I went to middle school with all of these guys)
    Sophomore Year: Loner and Loser
    Junior Year: Smart Book Worm
Senior Year: Emo. I had a lot of problems. Haha (not to say I still don't have problems, I'm just not emo anymore)

Oops, forgot to add what I'd do differently. I wouldn't have moved school so much. I could have faked living at the same place all through high school and hung out with the guys I grew up with.

For those who are familiar with the move "Breakfast Club", roll the character traits from each of the three MALE characters into one, and you've pretty much got my high school persona in a nutshell. I was intelligent (too much for my own good), athletic, and had a period of 2-3 years were I was a COMPLETE rebellious delinquent (fortunately ALL the charges against me were PRE-18 *whew*). Those who know me now can't believe what I was like, and those who knew me then can't believe 1) I survived and 2) I cleaned up so well.

I was in high school during the early to mid 1990s so I was the typical grunge/artsy girl of that era. Even though I was actually heavier than I am now, I wore all of the alternative style fashions and honestly kind of rocked it back in my day ;-) Although I listened to the same music as the skater types, I hung out with a wide range of friends. Most of my closest girlfriends were into the whole gangsta/low-rider culture and rap music. Most of the guys I dated were either periphery jocks or "stoner" metalhead guys, and I also had girlfriends who were metal all the way. Basically, I was the goodie goodie of a rough crowd but posed like I had serious street smarts. At least a handful of people were very intimidated by me, although my voice, actual behavior, and personality was pretty Pollyanna-ish compared to my friends!!

If I could go back, I would take school more seriously but not in the way that most people would assume. I would have kept making the straight A's I knew I could and I would have successfully CONVINCED my parents to let me take my GED at 15 and go to college early. I know I sound like kind of a d-bag saying this but I was a "gifted kid" and not challenged at all and I really needed to move on. High school for me was a lot of fun but intellectually it was like purgatory. I got into (very minor) trouble at school out of sheer boredom and frustration, and focused way too much energy into my after-school job. I was a cashier in a drugstore and I acted like it was my super important long-term career.

I was a country boy rebel with my favorite subject being lunch. Hung out with the guys and the only date I had was to the senior prom.

I was just very quiet and in the background. I had a lot of friends, mostly from different groups and cliques. Very short, quiet, and barely got noticed - except by my friends and by the many who bullied me (or tried to). I was bullied pretty badly, though never physically, throughout middle and high school, and I never understood why. I wasn't overweight or ugly, though people told me I was. I was smart, very friendly to everyone... but I wore a lot of black and listened to metal so lots of people who didn't know me just assumed I was a drug addict - even the school staff. I got stopped and searched a lot, they searched my backpack and locker a lot ... never found a thing but they continued to do it because of the people I dressed like. I wasn't even friends with the kids who got caught with drugs or weapons in school, so it's not like they could blame me for association. Anyway!

If I could go back I'd probably do a team sport, like track. I was in colorguard, but that was only for half of the year. I would also probably try harder to get good grades. From 11th-12th grade I was all A's and B's (though I had C's in maaath claaass), but it took me a while to get my GPA up and I know I could have gone further in college if I'd done better in school and got involved in extra curriculars.

I was kinda *****y. I went to a mostly white high school in an affluent town, so the boys thought me being Egyptian was the hottest thing and I let it go to my head. So much so that I didn't really bother to make many girl friends since I'd much rather hang with a guy (dumb decision). I'd always be late or skip periods but I had great grades so nobody said anything about my 125 total absences (not 125 days, just classes and we had seven periods a day). I'd skip a lot to meet up with this older guy I had the biggest crush on. I was obsessed with being thin and barely ate so I fainted a lot from it. I weighed 104 pounds which was crazy thin considering I'm almost 5'6. Now I weigh 145 :)

    I was A wallflower.
  • I had a very outgoing and bubbly personality. I hate to admit but I was boy crazy....even a little slutty. I had a very bad home life and looked for attention in the wrong places. I ended up meeting my kids father when I was a sophomore and settled down (if you call it that.)

I wish I would have joined sports or some school activity.

I was a big time druggie and I hung out with the freaks. This was in the '70s so we knew how to party! I'm lucky that I am alive today. If I could do it all over again, I'd skip the drugs, study and I'd hang out with the kids that I considered "not cool" because they were the smart ones. Do you think I have regrets?
