Omron HBF 306 - effected by metal implants?

I have a Omron HBF 306 Body Logic Pro Body Fat Analyzer, which uses bioelectrical impedance to supposedly measure your bodyfat levels.

When I first got it I used it weekly over the course of the 3 months = 31%.... and the readings NEVER fluctuated. During this same time I had my hubs use it and his levels went from 14.5-19% (and back down went he freaked and saw how high they were).

After a while I had to wonder - I have metal embedded in my spine from a fusion as a child. Since this tool send the current thru your arms to get it's measurement, it made me wonder if this metal may be causing a misreading. Information on the net seems to be both ways. I know DEXA scans are the best, but my insurance won't cover it and I don't have the money out of pocket for a test.

So, what do you think - do you think the metal in my fusion could be skewing the results?
