Your BMR is how many calories you would burn if you were in a coma.
I'm 5'3". I weigh 115lb. My BMR is 1,172 calories.
If you tell MFP you want to lose 2lb a week it will probably give you a goal of 1200 Calories a day. It's possible, but you may end up feeling starved.0 -
First it depends on how much you have to lose.
If you have 50+ lbs to lose you can eat under your BMR (not the healthiest) and lose a good amount.
If you have only about 20lbs or so to lose you want to have your settings at .5-1lb loss per week and NET your BMR. You didn't gain overnight so you will not lose overnight - slow and steady will help keep it off and avoid binges.
