    True. But... there is a certain amount of, shall we say, admiration that could be reserved for those stable enough to qualify for a mortgage on a nice place... then again, in this world of flipping properties, maybe not.

    lol, I know what you're saying. I bought a really boring, practical car after I got a house, because I was suddenly really interested in gas mileage, and I've yet to hear, "oh, baby, you're so praaactical..."

    In my own defense, I'll have my mortgage until I finially get into the salary range to afford my "forever" home. But! That is part of the plan. Purchase something nice now (well I purchased after shtf and got an awesome deal) and chill with it until its time to upgrade.

    I do wish I didn't have a mortgage but that will come with time and more planning.

    See I try to say very little to women about my life. It starts off well... Yeah I have a good job... I own my house/car etc. I am single... I have two kids.. I am super involved, coach all their sports, always with them etc... What happened to their mom? I am a widower.... That's when I get either pity or they run cause I am a man raising 2 young kids by myself. Neither outcome is fun.
