Operation Fat Husband!

Serve your DH healthy foods like those you eat, but in larger portions and send healthy snacks to work. I'm thinking of things like apples with peanut butter or smoothies. He needs to count calories to be sure he's getting enough. You don't want to clog his arteries.0

I buy my bf a box of frozen jimmy dean breakfast biscuits and those things are calorie laden. They are just a biscuit and a piece of sausage and they do taste pretty good. You can eat 2 packs (which would be 4 little sandwiches) quick and easy and have a good amount of calories. Or your husband could definitely eat more than 2 packs!0

Trek flapjacks, relatively healthy way to get in cals and easy to stuff in your gob when short on time?
I think the idea of bigger portions of healthy things sounds very sensible, could you add 1/3 of the protein to your meals and dish up to him? an extra chicken breast etc?0 -
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
FOOD PORN!!!!!0 -
Have him eat like this:

Fried rice with chicken and a protein shake.0

when my son needed to put on some weight he used protein shakes, whey, bananas and peanut butter. He ate a few protein bars between meals. He also ran and lifted weights so he did not add fat.0

I often have a mix of eggs, cheese, a meat or fish and various veggies (depends what's in) with seasonings that can have a pretty big number of cals depending on what goes in it and portion ratios (800 was my highest lol). It's also something that can be heated in a microwave or stuffed into a wrap and eaten hot or cold.
Or maybe a stew, stew can be good and freezes well. Lots of different options for seasoning and content. I make mine with lean mince and chicken or stewing steak and chicken typically and a whole bunch of whatever veggies (sometimes some pearl barley as well) are in the house which are half blended with the gravy to provide a thick sauce/stock. It normally does a decent 8 servings and is even yummier with a little cheese on top (yes I am a mouse in disguise). Around 800 is again the most I've had calorie wise per serving with the cheese top.
Oh I also make different types of Spelt bread loafs and they can be more calorie dense then shop bought esp if I add things to them. Cheese and wholegrain mustard and honey and cinnamon have been a big hit in the house I actually didn't even get any of the last batch, not a single slice lol
Hopefully that's a little helpful, sorry if it's not :happy:0 -

i think i will get a few different flavour trek & nakd bars, good idea.
we generally have the same dinner which is nice and healthy, and he just has more than me, but the problem with big portions of healthy stuff is they become VERY big to get lots of calories in... but as someone else said, he doesnt want to clog his arteries... so its trying to balance it!0 -
Eggs, beef, dark chicken, pork, bacon, avocado, coconut oil. I would stick with meats and carbs stick with veggies and fruits. I wouldn't go overboard on bread and pasta.
If he can't get much in, add maybe a protein drink. Make a smoothie with protein powder or something too.0 -
so, after the first full week of operation fat husband, he is down a pound!!!
food shopping again tomorrow... i'm thinking hummus, some flapjacks perhaps and full fat yoghurts... any other ideas, let me have them!!0 -
At this point you might want to consider a weight-gainer shake. 1000 cals in a reasonable size serving, and can be mixed at work. Or he could get friendly with a local takeaway0

egg casseroles, you can throw in anything, any meats, veggies and cheese, seasonings, use a dozen eggs scramble, them and then add your meat and veggies and seasonings, I use parsley, pepper, and nutmeg... , pour into 9 x 13 greased glass dish, bake for about 25 min , watch it... lol ..and there you have a few meals all ready to go, and high calorie, depending on your ingredients, great to mnake ahead too for work week. makes 8 meals for me, but probably 4 for someone looking for lots of cals !0
