Get on 25 and head south for about an hour. Colorado Springs is prettier and much less crowded.
Absolutely this!
I love Colorado, but HATE Denver! There are so many cities in Colorado that are sooooo much better than Denver.0 -
I have lived in Denver for a long time (read over 25 years) and would never consider anywhere else. Sunshine and blue skies 9 out of 10 days. They say 300 days of sunshine a year, believe it. Great city with a lot going on for single people and families. Yes it snows, the price we pay for having world class skiing 2 hours away. It melts. The sun comes out and it melts, doesn't hang around all winter like back east. Yes it gets cold too but not Fargo cold but it's Denver baby, Colorado baby! The summers are wonderful and the past several have had over 60 days in the nineties so it can be warm. But it's Denver baby. Blue skies, the mountains, the biking, the hiking. It's Colorado and it's a gas gas gas.

I've lived in Denver since 2007, and lived in Colorado Springs from 1985 to 1998. Colorado is my home and I won't ever leave it again. There are certain parts of the Denver metro that I don't really care for, but they are few and far between. I live on the North end, out towards the agricultural areas, and I love it. I'm 20 minutes from everything. My commute sucks if I leave past 6:30am though, so, I modify accordingly.
The cost of living is really pretty dirt cheap. I saw gas for $2.78 yesterday. I pay a pittance for a gorgeous townhouse. We have all four seasons, and we make amazing use of them! And the entertainment is insane. I go to more club shows and concerts here than I EVER did in San Diego, and I love it - just this year, I've seen 4 artists that I never ever thought I would get to see, and already next year, I get to see at least one. I could do 2 or 3 a week if I really wanted - and I have. We also have a lot of really good local food.
Everyone talks about the marijuana laws, but the truth is, we have some of the best beers in the world too. And I ain't talking about Coors. We also have Stranahan's and other local Colorado whiskeys that are to die for. Then there's the produce and the peach & cherry wines that we get from Palisade. And I don't drink.
The job market, it really depends on what you do. The tech sector is strong, but the education sector, not so much. There is also a lot of defense contracting, oil and gas and mining fields.
Like I said - it's my home... it took me 9 years to come back after leaving to take care of my mom and getting stuck in San Diego. I'm not ever leaving again. Vacation, sure - relocation, NO.
Thanks so much for the info! I did look at gas prices and right now it's 30 cents cheaper than where I am... I was surprised. Also it would be really nice to have so much entertainment!0 -

Lol yes I noticed some of the surrounding areas are pretty pricey! You can find a 2 bedroom townhouse where I'm at for $700 and most of what I have seen is like around $1000 for the same thing!0
