Choose Music by Beats Per Minute (BPM)

I think I saw somewhere on the interwebz at some point that there is a way to find songs by their beats per minute - anyone know anything like this? When working out on the elliptical or even walking, running or biking, using songs with different bpm can get you into a good groove. In the past I've just picked songs till I found ones that worked but I'd like to be a little more scientific this time.

Can anyone help?

I believe there's an app or two that will do that - hold it up while the music is playing and it'll tell you how many bpm it is. One of my colleagues uses it to find music for her spin class

You could probably find the name of the app by typing in to the google search bar "Music by bpm app."

In fact, I did it for you. It's like an early Christmas present: http://googleitfor.me/?q=Music+by+BPM+app

My husband does this and will only run to anything over a140 bpm, but listens to some really dodgy music as a result. You can also google as there are websites that list music by bpm. I had to find a bunch of stuff a few years ago at 100 bpm to help with teaching CPR
