Hello. I am just looking for some words of encouragement or something...haha
I am really great at working out a lot. I am also great at eating really well. I am not so great at doing both at the same time for a long period of time. A little over a month ago my doctor put me on some medication that helped me stop drinking. I was so encouraged and felt soooo much better that I started eating better again as well. Then I started working out again. At the end of the month I was already seeing some great changes in my fitness level. After that my prescription ran out and I started to feel my mood suffer. I didn't workout for a week almost by complete accident the days just went by. I became so hungry that I just ate EVERYTHING. I am pretty sure I am now heavier than I was before I started trying again. It is pathetic, I know. Yet it pretty much sums up the problem I tend to have....short term success that is immediately erased by falling of the wagon. I can't come to terms with the fact that it takes me a week to gain more weight than I can lose in a month.
So...I am here to track my eating on all the good days and even the bad.

Also...should I do "custom" goals? ...because I put in all of my information and mfp told me to eat 1200 calories a day while working out 3 hours a day 6 days a week in order to lose 1.1lbs a week. That can't be right can it?!0

With MFP you eat back your exercise calories so you get more on days you workout. You may also want to change your loss to 1/2 a pound per week. Take smaller steps and make them habits. Working out 3 hours a day 6 days a week is just not feasible for most people and can actually be too much. I try to workout at least 1/2 hour 6 days a week. Some days I do more but my habit is to get in at least 1/2 hour. As far as eating I try to preplan as much as possible. I find if my food is pre planned and all ready to go I will stick to the plan. I also do allow that chocolate chip cookie or piece of cake a couple of times a week. I can't be too strict because I would just give up and not be able to stick with it for the long haul.0

Thank you for the reply.
I was just trying to mess around with numbers when it told me the 1200 calorie thing. I am actually just going to be doing Insanity which is an hour a day 6 days a week. After that I will see I guess....
I am not sure what my food issue is. Sometimes it is just too much even when it is healthy. Other times I ignore all of the food in the house and just eat randomly even if stuff is prepared already. It is mental. lol0 -
What did the Dr give you to stop drinking. I am going cold turkey as I was up to a bottle of wine (the big one) every night. I also gained back 10 lbs and my clothes are tight or don't fit. I am sooooo sad and depressed. I am not looking forward to the holidays or anything. Help0

Are you using a digital scale to weigh all food and drink? It's easy to overeat, even on low-calorie foods, when we tend to underestimate how much we are actually eating. Also, what is it exactly that causes you to stop exercising after earning short-term success?
Yo-yo dieters, who eventually manage to reach their goal weight [again and again], usually end up becoming metabolically obese normal weight - ie. skinny fat. Being skinny fat puts you at similar health risks as being fat in terms of diabetes and cardiovascular disease. So if you're losing fat to improve health, then you may want to get a handle on things because potentially becoming skinny fat isn't going to accomplish your health and fitness goals.0 -

This is where my laziness works for me. If it is ready I don't feel like looking for something else.0 -
My doctor gave me topiramate for the alcoholism.
I lift weights a lot...won't that help avoid this "skinny-fat" thing? I never really "diet" per se. I just eat sensibly or I binge. Following actual diets or eating too little is never a possibility for me. haha So my problem is avoiding that phase where my body is upset with me for getting rid of fat and suddenly makes me so hungry that I can't think about anything else.
No seriously....like losing 10lbs causes me to feel more hungry than you can possibly imagine no matter how much I eat. It has to be some sort of mental disorder, because I am not denying myself nutrients or doing anything irrational. I also get extremely irritable or depressed from it. It doesn't feel like the typical "will power" requirement. Has anyone had this problem?0
