Strassburg Sock

I would love to hear from anyone who has used the strassburg sock for plantar fasciitis and had success or no success? I'm contemplating buying one and it's not a cheap purchase so would love to have some feedback. Thanks

Hey! I have been wearing 2 every night for...a few years now. They aren't an instant fix, and if you are having active inflamation/pain, regular icing and stretching (not at the same time;)) are essential to getting it under control. But sleeping with the SS will help reduce the inflamation, help the pain go away, and help keep it away. If I go more than 3-4 nights without sleeping in mine, I start to get tightness and soreness. I have also tried the cheaper drugstore/Target "night splint" and found that I could not sleep in it comfortably. It's too stiff, and either my toes would fall asleep b/c the strap was too tight, or they would come out of the splint b/c it was too loose. The SS is more comfortable and easier to sleep in.

My other go-to tips for PF:
    - regular stretching of your calves, but *especially* first thing in the morning
    - *excellent* arch support in all your shoes. For me, I use Birkenstock inserts in all my flats/boots/casual sneakers, and when my PF was relaly bad I used "arch braces" in my running shoes. Arch braces are really hard to find, but they are just kidney-bean shaped pads that strap to your feet and give a little extra arch supprt - helps to keep that tendon stretched. Arch support is more helpful toward healing than padded heels.
    - If you wear high heels, lay off them for a while. It shortens all the muscles/tendons b/tw the back of your knee and arch of your foot, which is one of the causes of the inflammation.
    - Ice, 15-20 minutes every 2 hours or so, can be a big help if you are consisten for a few days.
    - Never go barefoot. I step out of bed and straight into Birkenstocks - but whatever supportive footwear you prefer is better than going flat-footed, at least until it's improved.

    Good luck!

Did you continue to run through the PF or take a break?
