Just remember that it's a TV show. The fact that it's not what it seems should be a given. : )

I also read an interview with another former contestant (can't remember his name now though) who confirmed that they didn't weigh in every 7 days either, their "weeks" were more like 10 to 12 days.

Anything that celebrates those amounts of weight loss can't be good for the general public.

No one should be surprised, just another example that if you don't learn to eat and exercise properly you will be right back where you started eventually.
  • good or bad, i still think the concept of the show is awesome....i love the fact that they teach how to eat better and healthier and that they push them to gain control over their lives....but its sad to see the "not so unexpected"

Wow! That opened my eyes.....I always wondered how they lost massive amounts of weight....thanks for sharing this
  • I have never watched the show; I have never desired to. I have enough common sense and years experience to back it up, there's a right way to do something and a wrong way. Even a right thing done in a wrong way, is still wrong. The very concept of "The Biggest Loser," goes against what just about every professional states. The slower you take the weight off, the greater your chances of keeping it off. It's not a race, it's a life change. I'm not surprised to hear this, but then, when it comes to weight loss and learning to eat healthy, I don't want to be a big loser, that's how I got here to start with. No, I'm striving to be a winner!

i agree that the over all concept of the show is very motivating. I will continue to watch it, as long as they keep Jillian and Bob.

I hadn't realised that at all - but of course it makes sense, it's a competition like any other, there's lots of money at stake. Obviously I don't blame the contestants, and in general the show is sending out a good message (...), so I guess I'm saying that I found the article really interesting but I'm not put off the show in any way to be honest!
