POLL: What do you binge on?

I claimed on another thread that people were more likely to binge on sweets than fruits. Somebody claimed that was false. I just want to know, from the masses, what food are you most likely to binge on?

Options: (Use one of these, or add your own)
Cheese
Candy
Pastries
Vegetables
Grains
Chocolate
Fruit
Meat
Oils
Nuts
Bread
Seeds
Beans
Potato Chips
Fried Food

  • Starches. For me, and this may be weird, but when I have a bi cheat day, I usually have like 4 or 5 large baked potatoes throughout the day.

Don't know why potatoes, but yeah.

chocolate. definitely chocolate. I can quite happily chomp through snack bars as well. Something about the combo of sweet and carb. Drool. Now going to bed before I reach for the stash:ohwell:
  • Oh my gosh, I love potatoes too!

I'll binge on things like spaghetti and meatballs, especially when I'm drunk, lol.
Anything greasy, disgusting, loaded with sodium and overly processed. YUM!

The occasional sweet treat, but compared to pasta or burger with fries, it just doesn't cut it.

My binges are infrequent but severe. I will not be paying any attention to WHAT it is that is going in my mouth, it is just any open packet in the cupboard. So it could be cake, chocolate etc or it could be raisins or nuts, or it could be cheese, ham or yoghurts from the fridge.

    Anything really sweet -
    Cookies
    Chocolate
    Candy
    Pastries

Cheese and bread if I've been stupid and bought some really nice fresh french bread.

I've been known to bake cookies or a cake just so I could eat them / it all. Mmmm fudge..... coconut ice.... mint creams.... I could eat any amount of them!

For heaven's sake, vegetables, fruit, meat are all "good for you" so not "binge" items, as far as I'm concerned. I eat them all, in normal to large quantities, every day.

I haven't been out of control since I started logging on here but I think I'm a bit odd because I'll either binge on cheese (with bread or crackers) and I can eat a lot of cheese, or ice cream (yep, another Ben and Jerry addict here) or chocolate. They are quite different flavours/textures but they are the three foods that I go for when I'm eating uncontrollably.

Edit: Nuts, how could I forget them? Peanuts, cashews, almonds, brazil nuts any nuts at all.

Usually I binge on crunchy texture foods: cookies, crackers, chips, etc, but NEVER fruit or veggies!

I don't binge. (That's a pretty extreme thing imho). However when I overindulge it's on salty grains: tortilla chips and pizza. I do find that if I keep a close eye on the type of grains I eat daily, the salty grains call to me less, and less "urgently" just before aunt Flo visits. ymmv of course.

fwiw, I ate an entire head of broccoli raw last week. I wouldn't even call that "overindulging". I had no ill effects, and it didn't put me over my calories. again, ymmv.

    I don't binge.
Me neither. As I commented on that other post, I have foods I love everyday and no longer feel deprived or have any urges to binge.

I love food in general... If it wasn't for the fact I have to track it I could binge on that whole list. :)

I think for some people, binges aren't the result of over restriction, but rather difficult emotions. My approach is moderation, but I still have the occasional, unplanned binge. When this happens, it's not about the food; it's about my state of mind and emotions.

I binge on cereal. I usually allow for 2 servings, but sometimes i eat a serving dry before i even eat my 2 servings with milk. I know that dry serving is not going to fill the void in my stomach, so i do not know why i keep doing it. Its ok though because i usually do not eat back all my exercise calories and i end up in a deficit even now that i am in maintenance mode.

Cheese, candy, bread, pastries, chocolate. It's what I used to binge on. Not anymore really.

Potato chips! I cant have chips in the house because they call out to me and I can easily devour a big bag in no time.. one of my fav past times was eating a big bag of corn chips and reading a girly novel.. luckily after a few years I have managed to break the habit and now have a cup of tea :)

I luckily havent had a huge binge in a really long while..

I haven't "binged" since I started this, and don't plan on it - but in order, I could attack these by the bucket full on any given day...

    Chocolate
    Cookies
    Cheese
    Potatoes
    Pasta
    Bread
    Alcohol

    nom nom nom nom nom!!!

Any sweets. But in particular ice cream. I'm trying a new approach since I joined mfp. Moderation in everything. Hopefully by binging days are over.

I think there's a difference between binging and over-eating stuff you like. I think binging can be on anything and usually has an emotional trigger, you just open the fridge or the cupboard and start eating. (My friend once ate the sage and onion stuffing that she'd just made for the turkey when her boyfriend dumped her on Christmas Eve - that was definitely a binge!)
Most of us that have posted seem to have portion control issues with certain tasty foods, we have to be careful because we know we could over indulge, I'm not sure that necessarily constitutes a binge?
