Ok wonderfuls, Thank you so much in advance ❤ I've had 2 monster stressful days after a week of not much sleep health, and family stress capped off by an important for me to attend long event I yesterday which involved seeing the abusive family members. Sooo Anxiety has been high Working best I can to be mindful take care as much as time energy allows. But sleep interference combined with anxiety remote hunger of having not eaten once dinner has manifested as tooooo much plain greek yogurt berries healthy chocolate treats consumed spoiling breakfast appetite. Haven't been weighing self or tracking exact quantities if excess food more focused on healthy ways to get out of this problemo. Went to a clinic on Friday think might try a sleeping drug though.. Hmmm!!! Can you guys relate to any/have any insight experience wonderous amazing you knowledge suggestions! Blessings you guys are the best!!! I hope it's ok I shared so raw open and honest? If not please let me know.

More specifics = soo I've been consuming way more cals than able to track. The fish veg sweet salty ginger meals feel soooo good in my body. I have a problem with my pancreas severe reactive hypoglycemia so the abundant vitamin yummmy sweet tooth satifying but also fructose yummy blueberries etc send head in a fog not good for food decision making. Dairy= I have a whey allergy so just can have plain greek yogurt that has whey skimmed off no other dairy. My dr thinks I may have complete casein allergy which would require living without. My nose stops running when I've tried but dairy feels so calming before bed the Ltryptophan and good stuff. But confusingly addictive!! Just no substitutions for fish veg meals found yet for snacks besides sooo hmmm= What do you think?? Thank you mountains rivers oceans sparkly seas of heart ❤

Yes something with a comparable if not more protein less sugar than plain greek yogurt would rock to balance out not dr approved insulin rush from succulent berries!! (Combined w smaller quantities to reduce too) Ideas? yes please!

Oh thank god! I thought something had happened to my eyes :noway:
  • Please ask for any all clarification that may be helpful to you.
When I couldn't sleep last night between 11pm and 3am I ate like 3 boxes of blueberries 5? small nonfat greek yogurts withstevia.
Tooo much also some stevia sweetned dark chocolate which doesn't spike insulin like the above but has no protein so doesn't equate a replacement

In reading your post food is not the issue right now. It is too much stress and not enough sleep. Do what you need to do to get your anxiety down first and getting a good nights sleep. Your diet will work itself out in a positive way once you are more rested. Take care.:flowerforyou: Sometimes sleep is more important than our diets.

I have very very very bad reactive hypoglycemia as well. I was just officially diagnosed two weeks ago and started Metformin for it (along with my insulin resistance). Are you on Metformin or another drug to prevent a high spike and then a quick drop?

Since starting the Metformin, my blood sugar does not spike as high or drop as quickly. This makes me less hungry and has lessened the "I NEED TO EAT NOW" feeling. I used to wake up during the night having to eat because I was "low" and shaky, dizzy, very hungry, etc. I still wake up some nights to eat but I think this is more my mind thinking I need to eat because I was in that habit of doing it for so long.

You need to limit your carb/sugar intake. Some fruits can cause you to spike high and then drop really quickly… mainly bananas since they are high carb. My endocrinologist tells me to stick to GREEN apples, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, raspberries. Berries have the lowest carb and sugar content so they affect blood glucose the least.

You should NOT be consuming white bread, pasta, or potatoes. Instead you need to buy all whole grain/wheat bread, flat bread, pasta, and eat sweet potatoes instead of regular potatoes.

You need to increase your fiber… I'm talking like 40/50g a day. LOTS OF VEGGIES. Broccoli, spinach, asparagus, etc.

I eat 6-7 meals a day. I usually eat every 2-3 hours. Some days I have to eat within an hour because I feel my sugar dropping. It all depends on what I eat. DO NOT GO MORE THAN 4 HOURS WITHOUT EATING.

Every meal/snack you eat needs to have a protein…… peanut butter, deli meat, tuna, lentils, white beans, black beans, kidney beans, whatever.

Honestly, it's in your best interest to stay away from sweets… no cake, cookies, cupcakes, pies, candy.

If you HAVE to have something sweet, try a piece of dark chocolate (70% cocoa) or a piece of fruit.

People think that when your "low" you need to eat something high in sugar. That's not the case when it comes to reactive hypoglycemia. That'll just cause you to spike high and then plummet quickly again (rebound hypoglycemia). Instead you should have something like a whole grain flatbread with a tablespoon of peanut butter. That is my go to rescue snack. You should have your rescue snacks already prepared because when you are hypo you are not thinking straight and will usually choose to eat whatever is in sight….. which could turn out making things even worse.

Here are some good snack options for reactive hypoglycemia:

-Brie or cheddar cheese on whole grain crackers (carb with fat/protein)
-fresh figs with a handful of nuts (carb and protein)
-grapes with Brie or cheddar cheese (carb with fat/protein)
-cottage cheese mixed with pineapple or strawberries (protein with carb)
-celery sticks spread with peanut butter or almond butter (protein with carb)
-a bowl of steamed broccoli with butter (carb with fat)
    -almonds (protein)
    -macadamia nuts (protein)
    -pistachios (protein)
-Hummus on a whole wheat pita with cherry tomatoes (carb with protein)
    -salad with nuts or beans
  • Thank you so much for all replies!

Yes if I was sleeping better I wouldn't feel the blood sugar lows from shared very severe reactive hypoglycemia.
Will look into metaformin, thank you!

Without such severe blood sugar sensitivity I wouldn't have to worry about eating berries alone making my insulin too high or body's physical need to eat while awake so frequently.

Regarding improving what I am/could be eating:

I have celiac disease am totally allergic to corn soy nuts/seeds with lactose intolerance/whey allergy possible casein allergy.
Am pescatarian for moral reasons though totally respect others love of meat.
Soooooo in light of that currently I eat a big lunch and dinner, both of which I eat in half if possible to space things out. The second part of dinner gets pretty late.
Lunch and dinner are each about 6oz more or less of wildsalmon, sustainably caught tuna or shrimp with mountains of leafy green salads maybe some carrots cucumbers purple cabbage etc

So that together with a few low sugar/no sugar beverages and teas maybe a couple squares of dark chocolate gets me through most of the day.

Bedtime snack higher in carbs but also high in protein has always felt crucial: plain Greek yogurt has been my go to for years but given the berry craving the blood sugar rush is too much right before bed my body says
But if im going to eat fruit at all night is better than morning; I really find I need my first meal to be high protein for brain concentration and energy.
Regardless of how much I do or don't eat I've never been hungry in the morning.
I drink a kombucha prbiotic tea to get my bloodsugar and brain started....
  • So yeah!!!
I'm sure I could do something better to keep blood sugar levels stable,
Eat better for blood sugar levels pertaining to insulin rush anxiety and bedtime nighttime stability.

And a solution a plan which involved something that satiated my sweet tooth(chocolate berries yogurt mix etc)

Would do wooooonders for daily well being.
Which I hope the metaphormin and sleeping pill could also contribute to but not fix the ways natural method will would.

So yes suggestions insight knowledge advice all that gooodstuff you awesome people possess please bring it on ????
    INEffable gratitude yes
