Morning snack ideas

Breakfast is my LEAST favorite meal. Im working on getting a schedule for 5 meals (well, meals/snacks) a day. Can you shoot me over some good ideas for a morning snack? I love eggs, but they do not love me so a hard boiled egg is out. I like fruit in my cereal so not sure that is the best either. Im sure there are a million great ideas that I just cannot think of at the moment.

Thank you,
Steph

  • I eat a bowl of apples and cinnamon instant oatmeal most mornings. It is filling, tastes good, and it doesn't have a lot of calories. The fact that it's instant means that I can fit it into my busy day.

Fruit is always a good choice. I sometimes just have a piece of fruit, or a Kellogs breakfast bar. We are not big breakfast people either. As long as you put something in to get your metabolism going. Toast with peanut butter or butter. Mostly I have oatmeal or cream of wheat and some fruit.

If you just can't do it, find a healthier bar with a reasonable protein/sugar/fiber ratio.
I keep some on standby at work. Get them on Amazon.

I love snacking on nuts (almonds are my favourite) -- I like to keep a handful in a small bag in my handbag when I go out. I would recommend measuring out your portion sizes, however, since they can add up pretty fast!

I also love roasted chickpeas. Crunchy like potato chips, but so much more protein and fibre to keep you full! Popcorn is another good crunchy snack

Veggie sticks are another easy one if you chop up a whole bunch on Sunday night and keep them in the fridge to grab and go. I like dipping them in hummus or cottage cheese.

Another favourite for me is individual sized tins of tuna. I either put it on crispbread or just eat it straight out of the tin (especially if it's a flavoured one!) Sometimes I mix it with some mashed avocado -- YUM.

And I also recently tried beef jerky for the first time and am thinking I'll definitely be snacking on it more often! Maybe eat in moderation if you're watching your sodium, though.
