Hey Everyone! I am excited today went pretty well I am currently 252 pounds I am five four and would like to be down to 175 by February And down to 145 by May first. I am feeling pretty confident in losing weight so far but it has only been day one. Any Advice?

As for your goal, you should aim lower, losing +70lb in 3 months is somewhat intense. Try focusing on losing a set target weight on a bi-weekly basis.

Nice to meet you! I'm also new here and looking to lend and receive support and encouragement.
I'm at 260 right now and want to lose 100 pounds. At first I tried for a May deadline, too. But that is just not realistic for me (I'm considerably older than some on the board maybe). Anyway, I've set a goal for 1 year, but honestly, as long as I'm doing the things that are best for my health, it'll happen when it happens. I'm going to do whatever I can to lose the weight, but I will not let myself get discouraged if I don't meet a deadline. Please don't do that either.
Just work it and believe you can do it!0 -
What will you do once you have achieved the new, healthier you? Start thinking not just of your weight goals, but of your fitness goals as well and do what you can to work toward those simultaneously. The two go hand in hand, but I see lots of people wait until they have reached their weight goal before considering fitness.
So what will the healthier you do? Dance? Run? Lift? Compete in a sport? Learn a martial art? Explore the world?0 -
Set goals that you can achieve and you will help set yourself up for success. If you do this you'll do fine.0

I agree that your deadline for this is lofty, really, it's unrealistic to accomplish in any healthy way. I also agree that you should think about what fitness goals you may wish to accomplish. Make your journey less about the numbers and more about how you feel. People will tell you slow and steady is the best way, and that you did not gain it overnight, you will not lose it overnight. They say this for a reason. You can get where you want, just allow yourself more time, so that you do it in a healthy and sustainable manner and so you are not driving yourself nuts if you don't meet these goals.
Add some friends, and read lots of posts on the forums (with a large grain of salt). The ones who have lost a lot and kept it off are the ones to learn from. Send out friend requests to those you feel comfortable with. Most importantly, have patience and be kind to yourself. Be aware of the things you say to yourself when you are having a tough time, and ask "would I say this to a friend in the same situation". If the answer is no, then you shouldn't say it to yourself.

Do not be disappointed and give up if you do not make your goal weight in 3 months. Any weight lost and keep off (in a healthy manner) is a success.0

Losing the weight is the key... it's a journey, not a destination I agree that you should have fitness plans to help you achieve your goals that will make the journey more fun and challenging! Add me if you like, I would love to continue encouraging you on your new path.0

I know you want to lose the weight quickly...we all do. HOWEVER, I think you are setting the bar too high, and, really, setting yourself up to fail.
Think about it this way: Is it more important to lose the weight quickly, or to lose it permanently?0 -

ya thin king about it I think I may have set the bar to high.. although before I packed on all the weight I was able to lose weight very very very quickly0
