Calorie Deficit

I've read now over the posts, and everyone keeps talking about that we need a calorie deficit for losing weight. Does this mean at the end of the day, the NET number has to be in the negative??

No. You should try to reach your calorie goal. Mfp figures the deficit out for you. The term is in reference to a deficit from your TDEE or total daily energy expenditure. Aka the total number of calories you would need to eat to fuel all your daily activities and maintain your weight. To lose weight, you need to eat less than your TDEE.
  • I used a TDEE Calculator and it says:

    Your BMR is:
    2456
    CALORIES/DAY

    Your TDEE is:
    3484
    CALORIES/DAY

I used Mifflin-St Jeor formula thing.

Most people subtract 20% from their TDEE to create a deficit.

Eta: that would put you at about 2800 calories per day to lose.
