*Your first husband isn't what he seems
    *Neither is your second

    ^^ Amen to this.

I'd tell my mom to go get a damn checkup because a lump is BAD and we'll manage even if we don't have the money now.

Otherwise, always be honest, the immediate consequences are easier than the long term bullsh!t.

No point in trying to give advice to my younger self. My younger never listened to anyone's advice.

Yep. Me too. Oh youth! Wasted on the young!

If I thought I'd actually listen, I'd say:
    * Think before you speak. Or just don't speak.
    * Sit in the front of the classroom. And do your d@mn homework!!!

Oh, man. What advice WOULDN'T I give my younger self?

Be true to yourself. Don't let society tell you how you should look or think or act. Don't be someone your not just for someone else's approval.

    Respect yourself.

Recognize the signs that he's cheating (my ex) and move on! Regardless of how he makes you feel, you don't need him!

Don't know that I would change anything major in my life -- every bad decision led me to where I am today. Sadly, I am a slow learner, though, so I might try and get the lessons learned a little earlier in life.

    (1) Mail the letter to Evelyn, so it doesn't sit in your lock box for the rest of your life. You can't mail a letter to Heaven.
    (2) If is seems too good to be true -- question it. Don't discount it immediately, but question it heavily.
    (3) When someone says something that immediately stops your heart and raises red flags all around you -- do NOT marry him. It wasn't a joke. He wasn't kidding.
    (4) Trust your instincts. Always.
    (5) Secrets - no matter how small, are trouble. Don't agree to keep them for others and never ask others to keep them for you.
    (6) It's ok to ask for help.

-Never commit to anyone when you're under 35. Take this time to date around and find out what you really want in a partner. This is especially true for men.

-Choose a career where you can make money by being charming and talking a good game (real estate agent perhaps?).

-Surround yourself with good people who are successful and get involved in the right social circles.

-Never listen to your parents. I've learned more from traveling, going away to college, and living all over the country than I ever will from my folks. This isn't true for everyone, but it's been my experience.

-Most importantly, NEVER settle in any aspect of your life, especially when it comes to career or your life partner.

Wow, I feel sorry for you. My parents were intelligent people who always had my best interest at heart. No one will ever love you more than your Mother.

When I was 24 and fresh out of college, I had the idea to start my own business by building a bunch of storage units in my town. My dad and uncle would have backed me on it to start out, but I was terrified of failure. Now, the market here is way too saturated with storage units but I think at that time it would have been a PERFECT business venture and it probably would have made me pretty successful, at least by my standards (comfortable income). Ah well!

At 28, I haven't accumulated all that much world-weary, nice-sounding and impractical wisdom yet... but here's some advice I would give myself if I could go back in time (not that I'd take it):

    Ages 10-15:
    - It would be much easier to lose 10kgs when you're ten than 35kgs when you're fifteen...

    Ages 16-19:
    - Your neckbeard will never turn into a real beard, its only function is as a chastity belt.
    - Just because you can maintain a B average with zero attendance and study doesn't mean you should.
    - Go easy on beer and weed.

    Ages 20-22:
    - Get your own appartment.
    - Yes, you will find someone else.
    - Your long hair and moustache combo isn't as cool as you think
    - Just because you can maintain a B average with minimal attendance and study doesn't mean you should.
    - Go easy on beer and weed.

What life advice would you give to your younger self?

    - Attitude is everything
    - Life is about choices and character is about the choices you make, not just the words you speak.
    - Your physical body doesn't define you
    - Pursue your natural abilities in sports (never give up)
    - Embrace your leadership and be the light you can be. Being strong is not about lifting yourself up, but lifting up others.

    - Dance, sing, and enjoy without fear.

How is one suppose to attend college if you don't come from a wealthy family?

I went to a private university and received student loans. Even though it was expensive, college is an extremely worthwhile experience.
  • -take advantage of every opportunity that you can.
-stretch your hamstrings because they will become really tight and it will suck.
-no matter what you know, think, or say, action will always be the way to success.

After I posted, I thought this. What's the point telling me when I think I know it all already?!

Also, it's never too late to apply the knowledge gained.

In her book, "Lean In", Sheryl Sandberg asks, "What would you do if you weren't afraid?"

I would tell myself, "Just do it. Don't be afraid."

-Stop making bad decisions just to hang out with a certain crowd.
-A guy may seem like the one you have to have, but he's actually using you...
-Put more effort into your grade so you can go to college.
    -Don't drop out of college
-Don't let 50 strangers into your apartment for a party that has gone out of control. You don't need coke and meth in your house.

Take care of yourself, you will fall in love with exercise but you need to get over your metal boundries.
When you found out the first time dump his *kitten*, don't stick around. It hurts a lot more after the third or fourth time....
Running away is never the answer but moving away will be the best thing you've ever done for yourself.
    Love more freely, always.
Apply yourself more! Your focus changes over the years and you will regret not paying attention in class.
Your mom loves you no matter what, don't take douchenuggets side over her. It will almost cost you your relationship with your family.

Same for me. Took me a while to pay them off but eventually with the opportunities my degree afford me I zeroed them out. Still working on my Masters too.

Agreed with above response. My Mother is my best friend, my biggest fan, my favorite teacher, the sweetest encourager, and the kindest example I've ever know. I only hope to God that one day I will be as good of a person as she is.
