Who I am and what I am doing here

I never did an intro post, so here it is.
I'm 26. I'm a woman. I'm about 30 pounds overweight. It's nothing crazy but I can definitely see it getting out of hand. My mother was slender for most of her life and put on a lot of weight in her 40's. I don't want that for myself, so I figure I should start working on it now.
I fiercely believe in personal responsibility. We are all sentient beings in control of our actions. We are all intelligent creatures capable of learning, applying knowledge and changing our behavior. I want to stop taking those things for granted. I don't enjoy excuses or those who make them. I try to do as little of that as possible. Support and motivation is great and all, but I always say that the keys to a success come from within. No one else is gonna do it for you. All the cheerleading in the world is gonna get my butt off the sofa. So while the community seems cool, I don't need friends for motivation and support. I need friends for the exchange of useful information
I love to eat. I don't want to drastically reduce the amount I eat, so I will have to increase the amount I move.
I guess that's it. I'm not good at talking about myself.
