Help! Baseball Game

Hey guys,

I'm going to a baseball game tonight and since I doubt there's anything there I can eat I want to bring some food in. The catch is that I can only bring in food that is sealed in its original packaging. Does anyone have any ideas for a healthy, low-cal dinner that I can bring? I'd prefer no granola bars, I mean I LOVE Nature Valley bars but I've basically been living on them lately so some variety would be nice.

Also, if anyone is familiar with Dodger Stadium and knows of something I can eat, that's great too. In a pinch, I guess I could go to the Panda Express and get the beef broccoli, but since I wouldn't eat the rice, chow mein, or orange chicken that would be a massive waste of food and money. :/ Any other ideas?

I was in your same predicament last week. I went to a Mets game with some beer guzzling guys and knew it'd be tough to fight the temptation.
My advice: eat lightly today so if you do feel like buying some stadium food it won't throw you off your day's calorie goal. Another great thing is the prepackaged, single-serve baby carrots or Motts prepackaged apple slices. They sell them in the produce department of most grocery stores and are great to munch on.

I got this off the Dodger's website - a list of all their food concessions. It does sound like there are some potentially healthy choices, which I've listed below. The whole list is here: http://losangeles.dodgers.mlb.com/la/ballpark/ballpark_guide_list.jsp (Under "Concessions")

Field Level (1st Base Side): Healthy Plate (Sec. 30)

Field Level (3rd Base Side): Frozen Yogurt (sec. 9), Canter's Deli (Sec. 47), Hebrew National Hot Dogs (Sec. 47) (Hot dog's aren't great, but I've heard these are one of the best kinds)

Loge Level (1st Base Side): Healthy Plate (Sec. 104)

Loge Level (3rd Base Side): Frozen Yogurt (Sec. 131), Sandwiches (Sec. 147)

Club Level (3rd Base Side Only):Sandwiches (Sec. 235)

Reserve Level (1st Base Side): Subzone (Sec. 12), Healthy Plate (Sec. 12), Veggie Dogs are available at (Sec. 6).

Reserve Level (3rd Base Side): Sandwiches (Sec. 11), Veggie Dogs are available at (Sec. 3).

Top Deck (3rd Base Side): Frozen Yogurt (Sec. 1), Sandwiches (Sec. 5).

Left Field Pavilion: Sandwiches (Sec. 303).

Accountant_boi, once again you come to my rescue! Today I'm going to call the stadium and find out what the heck "Healthy Plate" is and what they have there. And if I can, I'll bring in a dark chocolate bar so I don't feel left out when everyone else is snacking on yummy baseball park food. :]

I don't know HOW I'm going to survive if people around me are eating garlic fries though! They're my absolute favorite... sigh

Glad I could help! I went to a baseball game here recently, and someone I went with printed off a list of the concession options - I figured the Dodger's stadium probably had one as well. When people around you are eating the garlic fries, just remember that after you eat something like that, you usually end up feeling pretty crappy because 1) they're fried and 2) (at least for me) I tend to overeat stuff like that, so it's just better for me to say no! Would you rather give in and feel blah afterwards, or eat the good stuff and have a great evening (without feeling yucky afterwards). The dark chocolate is a great idea. :) Good luck!!

When I do baseball games (which tends to be a few times/year), I get hot dogs but with a fork and eat it out of the bun. That way I'm saving myself the 2-300 calories of the bun and still getting meat (yes I know some people don't think it's real meat, but it's good to me!). I even put ketchup on it. :)
I've never had a problem staying on top of my weight loss regime at baseball games. I've always been either the same weight or lower the next day. Truthfully, restaurants are far worse.

I think it's perfectly okay to occasionally indulge in something you really like, so long as you make up for it somewhere else through diet or exercise. That is one thing that MFP is really helpful with.

Being in L.A. and also a self-admitted foodie, those little indulgences have helped keep me sane.

Well, I decided what to do! I just called the stadium and they told me it would be ok to bring in a wrapped up Subway sandwich, so I'll be doing that along with a Dove bar and I'll be good to go :] Mmmm... I'm getting hungry just thinking about it! Thanks to everyone for your help!
