  • I really really thought I could name all the states in the correct places. Turns out I don't know jack about New England.

For anyone interested in trying a lil US geography quiz:

I scored 145/150, and I pretty much guessed on CT, DE, RI & MA

When I was a little child I used to get sick all the time, so I had to stay at home doing nothing. I once decided to learn the name of each one of the 50 States of America, with their capitals, and I still remember most of them. That was incredibly funny!

Reminds me of the Thanksgiving episode of Friends with "Chandler's Dumb States Game" and Joey comes up with 56 states... that one always cracks me up.

A guy in Texas once asked me "What state is Canada in"?

Grew up in New Mexico would get the comment all the time from fellow Americans how great my English was or say they couldnt ship things internationally.

However, I'm pretty UK dumb I dont think I could find London on a map, so I dont see how asking people in the UK about the states of a foreign country are relevant.

haha thats ok I imagine half the people in the United States couldn't even point out The UK on a map.. And the Southern States only have a map of the United States..

It doesn't show up on mine at all -

Geography is a pretty big subject in the rest of the world. I remember when I was overseas looking at a kids geography book it has some random stuff like how much grain certain US states exported.

Canada is a Country that has Provinces rather than States. The guy in Texas really had no idea that there was a country called Canada north of the border.

I just made a list off the top of my head without cheating, and came up with 44 until my mind went blank.

    I'm American.

Turns out I missed Delaware, Indiana, Missouri, the Dakotas, and Nevada. LMAO.

Got 149/150, because I didn't think that it took my click when I clicked on Hawaii - (It took it, and was asking where Maine was - lol). I know the states alphabetically, and all of the capitals (though there are a couple that I have to really rack my brain to remember). I guess that this newer generation doesn't study maps like we had to study. As for Europe, I could do pretty well on a 1945-based map, but haven't had the need to keep up with all of the changes geographically since.

well, I have always said I live in 'misery' Missouri. No one seems to know it, so it must be true, only one map had my state labeled right lmao

The last 100 states must have been added very recently ... can you share with us, what they are? :flowerforyou:

It's racist to think there are no racists in Australia!

    To OP:

I could name a few, but definatly not all, but think same goes for American people and Europe.
I doubt most Americans could name the countries in Europe, or point a country on the map.
For example when i spoke to few American friends and told them i live in Holland, they said, oh yeah that's the capitol city of Amsterdam right?... i was like DOH! (to speak with the famous words of H.S.)

You are giving Americans way too much credit, if the US map was given to avenge Americans they would not do as well as some of those Brits did.

So asking Americans about the geography of Europe is asking too much.

I can name them in alphabetical order! Thank you School House Rock! I can also name all the presidents in chronological order, but only when I'm drunk. I don't know why.

Been to all 50 of them.

Won a bottle of wine on a UNITED flight to Salt Lake City because I could answer the following question:

"Name the states and their capitol city whose first letter for the state and the first letter of the capitol city are the same."

Ugh - so sorry - was replying to the person who posted this link

    http://www.lizardpoint.com/geography/usa-quiz.php?type=randmenu

They give you three points for a correct guess, so there's still only 50 states - :-)
