What do you do when your toddler eats off your plate? Do you leave your dairy as is or do you try to subtract what you may think your toddler takes? Or is there another method?

If it were me I would put what I put on my plate in my diary. I mean do they eat a lot of your food? if so get them their own plate. Otherwise it's better to be over estimating intake then underestimating...0

Put some on a separate plate for your toddler. If you want to be accurate that's the only way to do it.0

I just forget they ate anything off my plate (although this happens everytime I eat). I figure it's definitely not going to hurt me! I'm not trying to be exact because she gets a bite of this or that or half of my sandwich, etc. I would just pretend that you ate it all....that would help more than hurt you for sure.0

Like everyone else said, give them their own plate, now is as good a time as any to start teaching manners, and I think a good place to start is "Don't grab food from another person's plate, eat your own."0

My son is 2 and knows already not to take food off my plate. His daddy lets him but I dont and its sunk in. If he wants a bit, I make him his own and puts it on his plate. If i counted it, im damned sure im gonna eat it!!0

if you think the toddler eats 25% of your meal, log 90% of it. better to be a little over than way under.
or get a sectioned plate with one section a diff colour. that way they can eat off your plate but only from 'their bit'0 -

Put the little thief on timeout and teach him stealing is wrong!0

I would just log all of it. Think about all the times you probably eat a bite or two of whatever they left on their plate...I know I used to!0

Kids don't eat that much, just chalk it up to margin of error, or, like others suggested, make separate plates.

Smack his bum.0

Teach your kid to sit in his own chair and eat off his own plate.0

I would start saying no and put some on a separate plate. From experience I know its a bad habit to let your little one get into.0

I log what I eat. If my toddler eats 25% of it I log the 75%. I usually put it on his own plate. I think it's a good thing to get him into eating of his own plate and not other peoples and it is easier for me to keep track.0

I always have given him his own plates for meals and snacks. It's only when I have something different. I don't forced anyone else in my family to diet so I may end up eating something else other my family. I like the idea of section separation on my own plate. And oh, I don't usually physically discipline my children. They do, however, have uncomfortable timeouts. Slapping is teaching a child that it's ok to hit others when they don't like something.0

I think whoever said smack his bum was joking, but definitely teach about boundaries. Maybe give him a little of your 'different' food too....he might love celery, or just want to be the same as mummy, which is you're eating lots of veg etc is a great way to get him eating a variety of foods0 -

I think thats great Some friends of mine have always given their daughter similar food to them-her dad posted a pic on facebook of her eating avocado, boiled egg, prawns and some salad for her lunch and shes only a toddler. It encourages them to eat a wide range of food and not to think of vegetables as a punishment.0 -
Just look at it as the child helping you achieve your goal and forget the few calories they take!0
