Grown Ups 2 - Perpetuating The Stereotype

Yes, I laughed at this movie....but I did not appreciate the jabs throughout the movie at the character played by Kris Murrell. She is a very muscular bodybuilder (see pic below). She is, however, an extreme example. Without many, many repeated cycles of steroids and tremendous amounts of training, women will not end up this muscular. I do admire the hard work and dedication she has put into her body, I just don't like the portrayal of her character. I am a bit surprised that she even agreed to the role in the first place.
What does everyone else think?
Here is a pic of her, if you haven't seen the movie

I saw it, too and now that you point it out, I too am surprised that she agreed to do the part. My guess is she is aware of how people look at and even make jabs about her appearance and is ok with that. Maybe because she knows how hard she works, she is secure enough that she can laugh at herself.0

Yes, that could be why she agreed to it, thanks0 -
not sure why the OP posted this... OP has been here long enough to know what inevitably happens on threads like these... and it's not like we haven't had plenty of threads like these in the past... but i'll bite...
- she has a nice face.
- her overall physique is not my cup of tea (personally), but it's not my business if she wants to build a physique like that.
- i think she's smart to take the role. they pay actual money to actors for working in a film, which beats the heck out of not taking the role and not getting paid any actual money. they were going to cast *somebody*, so why not her? ergo, smart.
- if she has a sense of humor and can laugh at those jokes, more power to her. i'm sure she's heard all the jokes before.
- somewhere out there, some little girl is going to see her in the movie and feel inspired to follow in her footsteps. being a role model for kids is not such a bad thing - unless you're justin bieber, in which case that's a very bad thing. >:(0 -

As far as I can tell, she has a good deal of respect for the bodybuilder, was curious and meant no ill-will.0 -

That is exactly it. I searced the forums to see if anyone else was discussing it and couldn't find anything. Curiosity brought me to post this.0 -

...but it just takes one person to stumble on this thread and say something like "ewww, she's manly" and then this thread becomes just like every other female bodybuilder thread. i don't think you are trolling. i just think this thread is about 87.3% likely to end up the same way as every other previous thread asking for opinion's about a female bodybuilder's physique (even if you weren't really asking that question, that's how it'll be interpreted).0 -
Never saw the movie, but I tend to think that when people don't take themselves too seriously, that's a really good thing.0

I see what you are saying, and I really do hope this doesn't go down in flames. Like you state, that is not what I intend to discuss.0 -
I'm pretty sure that this picture is not an actual picture of Kris Murrel, but rather a piece of artwork created by someone called MorphMedic, He has a gallery on that site of pictures that he has transformed.
She really looks like this:

That looks more like how she looked in the movie....I was wondering why the pic I had looked so much more extreme than the movie. Thank you :flowerforyou:0 -

That looks more accurate. I was wondering how the heck she got that little skirt thing over those thighs.0 -
Hmm interesting question.
Delving into the original post a little more closely, I am actually left with more questions than answers.
Namely, why would someone knowingly watch Grown Ups 2? Did they not see the first one?0 -
Thank you Carson for posting the correct picture of Kris Murrel. The OP pic was very extreme.
As far as why she took the role - why not? Its a repeating role in a major blockbuster. Lots of exposure!! She was smart.
And much like short people, tall people, different ethnicities, etc.... there are stereotypes to them all. If you learn that we are all unique and be proud of who we are... who cares about the jabs?!! She obviously works extremely hard for that body. THere are going to be people who hate that body type and people who love it and everything in between.
More power to her!!0 -

I haven't watched the movie, but I tried to read up on some of the jabs made at her.
I don't particularly like women who are built that big, the second picture of her looks good, must have taken amazing work!
But back to the women putting herself out to those kind of stereotypes, maybe she's just realized that, that is the view that people take, and shes secure enough in herself to be able to laugh at it with them..0
