Back From Hospital (pls tell me i am going to make it)

I went to the hospital because I decided it was time to get my high blood pressure sorted once and for all. I was 400 lbs and now 315 thinking that was enough to see a huge change in blood pressure. Boy was I wrong. They kept me in for having dangerous high blood pressure 170/110 I was also panicking constantly too which didn't help.
They looked at me with shame as I was 26. Saying you need to change your habits but I already have. I eat healthy. Blood tests came back with high cholestrol too! Said there was an abnormality on my liver and they said the same thing about the abnormality since 2009 but i was worried to test further. this time i had no choice. I just hope the abnorrmality isn't cancer or anything. Doctor said could be fatty tissue.
They gave me an ACE inhibitor to take daily, hopefully that helps with blood pressure.
Feeling confused, Worried sick. A little de-motivated. I went down this track to lose weight and I seem to be doing worse on it. Please tell me I'm going to make it lol

You should be proud of the weight you've already lost; losing 75 pounds is a huge accomplishment!
With that said, you obviously need to keep going. Despite your huge weight loss you still have work to do. But, you already KNOW you can do it because you've already been doing it. Just keep doing it.
As for the liver, I'm glad you had it checked out. It should have been done 4 years ago but better late than never.

You can get through this. You WILL get through this. Work with your doctor, find your limits as far as cardio work, get a heart rate monitor so you don't go over where the doctor wants you to be and start working on your cardiovascular system. Yours is a case where cardio is needed. Bringing your weight down is going to help but you need to train your heart and lungs as well.
Stick with the healthy changes you have made. Make some more! Build a stronger heart and your BP will drop and may even get you off the meds.

Relax. Take a deep breath. You will be OK.
Stress is terrible for blood pressure.... (I have it and high cholesterol)
Take the meds, keep on your weight loss routine.. it is working for you.
I am sure the liver condition is "fatty" and losing weight will help that.
High cholesterol is sometimes hereditary.
YOU ARE GOING TO MAKE IT.... KEEP UP THE WEIGHT LOSS !!!!0 -

You're gonna be fine.
Pay close attention to the sodium and cholesterol levels in your food. Keep moving and keep hitting your calorie target. You can turn this around.
You can look at this two ways:
"OMG I'm 26 it's so shameful to have these problems at a young age."
or
"I'm better equipped to overcome these problems at the age of 26 than I would be if I was 66."

That must have been quite scary and upsetting. Panic attacks make my bp soar, so I'm sure that didn't help much. You know you're taking the steps necessary to get to a healthier you. Stick with it, consult your doctor.0

Losing wieight is not making these conditions worse.
You are dealing with issues that were already there and will persist until you lose more weight.
Consider these temporary tools and interventions to help prevent any further health problems.
As you continue to lose weight, your blood pressure and cholesterol levels should continue to drop to the point of not needing any medication.
Hang in there.
Eat healthy (low fat, low cholesterol, low processed sugars) and exercise.
You are doing yourself a huge favor by losing weight.
I've been a nurse for 25+ years and am now taking care of very young, obese adults in the nursing home because of all the complications caused by obesity, i.e.- high blood pressure, diabetes, heart & kidney failure, joint replacements, narcotic dependence etc.
ETA: It is difficult to say about your liver with out seeing the test results and diagnosis.0 -
There are a lot of things it could/couldn't be that would be unrelated to drinking and may or not may not cause any symptoms. Just wait for the results; no sense in worrying before there is something to worry about. Deal with it after you know what is going on.
My point was that you shouldn't wait. In future, be more proactive regarding your health and medical care. Even though it can be scary knowing is often better than ignoring.0 -

Your doctor is probably right in saying fatty liver. Or else he would not of said it. You will be ok.
Be sure to follow up with your doctor and get the results "for sure" so you do not dwell on it forever..
Sometimes we want to hide from the truth, but do not do that... follow up with the doctor and find out about the liver, and keep on the weight loss plan.0 -

As you noted before, the doc said it's probably fatty liver. No need to worry. I've got the same thing, and my doc said I just need to lose some more weight and that should take care of it.
Congrats on the 85 lbs lost so far! That's awesome! Keep it up!
As others have said, work with your doctor on this journey. Work in some cardio: walking, biking, treadmill, eliptical, whatever you can. I've got genetically high bp and cholesterol (and my eating habits certainly weren't helping, either). The meds have helped, but my exercising has done far more to control them than anything else.

Either the liver is serious, or it is not. You'll find out soon enough, and worrying about it won't help you - it'll hurt you by keeping your blood pressure up and putting your body and mental state under stress. You've done what you can about it for now - Try to put it out of your mind as much as possible, though I know that's difficult.
Now for the good news - you can recover from the weight-related issues, for sure. And, you've made a tremendous start! I once knew someone who had lost > 200 lbs around your age, and he kept it off for years. Probably still has kept it off (he turned out to be a jerk, so I didn't keep in contact with him when I moved away).0 -
You are doing so good! As defeated as you may feel, you are already FAR down the path you need to be to correct your health issues. Imagine if you give up now how mad you will be at yourself in a few years when you are in the same place or worse.
You should be proud, and channel all your fear and anxiety into furthering your goals.0 -
It's good that you received the medical intervention you needed. I'm sure this is just a bump in the road. The liver is an amazing organ and with the proper diet and exercise will heal itself in time. I would be very proactive in finding out exactly what is wrong with and getting it taken care off. You've done amazing so far, 75 pounds is an awesome loss. Keep up with your diet, fit in some cardio exercise, maybe water walking or swimming to keep the pressure off your joints. You have a whole community here to support you when you need it.

You deserve to be as healthy as you can be. Working with your doctors and specialaist might help you get there. Please have your liver checked out. Ask someone you trust to be there with you through the process to help hold both you and the medical team accountable for discovering the true nature of what is happening with you. Abnormal tissue can be benign, but also put stress on the body in less obvious ways.
I speak from experience on this. I had benign tumors that were impacting my body in ways that were not obvious. Without going into it too much, some of the side efffects were hypertension, tachycardia, weight gain, water retention, anemia and fatigue. Having the growths removed offered immediate relief to all of those symptoms. But just looking at those symptoms, many of those issues were like asking which came first...the chicken or the egg.
Your situation may be completely different, but you may also have symtoms that are not what they seem. The sooner you find out what is going on for the less likely you are to have sympotoms masking other symptoms. Asking a specialist about your liver health and cholesterol regulation directly may hold some insight.

Let this serve as your motivation. Your health will get better with losing weight. Don't feel discouraged, keep at it. I mean, what's the alternative? Going back to the way you were before and making your health & medical issues worse is the alternative. Keep to the path you've paved and continue to work hard. BP and Cholesterol are both manageable and will get better as you go. As for the liver, I can't really say much. I recently had a blood panel done and my liver levels were slightly elevated. My doctor said it could be just from taking Tylenol the night before blood draws or something. Could be from alcohol. Could be fatty tissue. No use in worrying about it until you get the official word on it, and then you can work on addressing that as well.

People online can only speculate based on what you've said and their own experiences which may be completely unrelated to your actual situation. Maybe your liver's ok, maybe it's not. Maybe continuing with a better diet and exercise will help, or maybe your conditions are genetic and you'll need to be on meds for the rest of your life.
None of us can tell you either way. Go back to the doctor and ask them all your questions. Don't be intimidated, stand up for yourself because no one else will.0 -

First, 85 pound loss is AWESOME, and you have to be feeling some of the benefits from that.... more energy, better fitting clothes. Secondly, I am about 7 pounds away from my goal. I weigh only 137... and I have high cholesterol and high bp. I take meds for the bp, and just started fish oil for the cholesterol. The point of me telling you this is that sometimes, regardless of exercise and diet, these things can be hard to change if you have a genetic disposition (I have a lot of cardiovascular issues in my family). Don't let those docs poo-poo on your progress!0 -

I'm at goal weight and have genetically high cholesterol as well.
Losing weight, in general, MAY help hypertension and hypercholesterolemia, but that may not be the case for everyone.
But I think we can all agree that not being overweight is always better for overall health.0 -
You're not doing worse! 85lbs is an AMAZING amount to lose! They just didn't know about it when they were telling you to change your habits - you know what you're doing and that it's helping so keep at it!
It seems you just never let yourself find out where you really were the first time around But now you do- you know where your BP is at, that your cholestorol is off and that there's something going on with your liver... so now you can start focusing on those, right? I'm sure the doctor's/nurses gave you tips, so try to start following those if you're not doing them already. I don't know exactly what you would do about your liver- maybe cut back on booze/sugar and drink more water? For cholestorol change your diary so it shows on your daily tracker and start watching your numbers. Try to eat more "healthy cholestorol" as well- extra virgin olive oil, whole eggs... there's more I just can't think of it at the moment.
And to control your BP - keep doing what you're doing! Work on reducing your weight and exercise.
And of course, keep going to the doc and getting checked up.
Don't be discouraged, just keep at it!

Losing weight is going to help make all of your conditions less of a problem. Don't get discouraged right now. You are still a young man at 26. You are just entering what I call the "athletic prime of your life" between the ages of 27-33. Right now you are best equipped to tackle this problem and become the best person you can be. You can do this. By the time you are 28 you can be healthier than a huge percentage of the country if you push yourself to be great.0 -

Take nice deep breath .You will be just fine SBP 170 is bad but not in dangerous zone espicialy you Dont have any other symptom . You are in very right direction to SAVE your life see I didnt say improve . ACEI meds are good meds we knew them for a while and It will help your kidney (if You have DM ) . Some people get some cough but not big deal
I dont see your lab result since liver enzymes are at least 3 different one. Something called Fatty liver which is common . Lossing weight will definatly help and most of time you need to just monitor them .AS gegenral rule try to avoid meds whom go through Liver like Tylenol ..... . Be kind to your liver less work for it . Aviod processed food .
At the end remember There is not short cut to getting some where called HEALTH . YOU worth it stay strong It is your body Undo all wrong doing one small step a day

Dude you're good, you've lost a large amount already. Sometimes things seem worse before they seem better. Don't focus on what you can't change, focus on what you can do. I'm sure your doctor had some suggestions that were valuable, so take them, maybe even see a dietitian or nutritionist who can help to specialize a diet to help work on getting your blood pressure and cholesterol down.

Be proud of your loss it's possible that this is a genetic trait, and you may need medication to control. There is no shame in that you are still improving your body, and making it easier for the doctors and medication to treat your body. Being heavy makes it difficult to properly dose and control.
You know there is some sort of abnormality, but this time youre going to take it to the next step and get the proper testing and treatment.
You are going to be fine. Ask a lot of questions, and keep up the hard work you are worth it.0 -
