Too much carbs from veggies?

My stats are: 32yr old f. 104lbs. I exercise and eat very healthy, just extra info, not that it really has to do with my question. I try to keep my carbs lower when I can. So my dilemma is this: I eat a lot of veggies a reg noon lunch would be 2 cups of cooked mixed veggies broc, cauli, asp, mush, peppers and carrots all mixed usually steamed or just thrown on the BBQ with nothing on them at all excet 1/2 tsp of low fat dill dip. I love the taste of them with hemp hearts on them and a tough of dill! And a meat of course. I also have about 2 cups of raw veggies for evening supper, all the same as the lunch ones but raw. I'm trying to eat about 1350 cals a day. I always heard that you can't over do veggies but do u think I'm taking in too many carbs with this amount of vegetables? I was thinking of cutting back a bit??? Thanks for any opinions.

More carbs just mean more stored glycogen/water. At 1350 calories, I would suspect it's difficult to exceed a certain point. Unless you have metabolic issue or medical condition, there are more important macro's to manage, such as protein. Aiming for 1g of protein per lb of lean body mass (combined with resistance training) will help ensure you maintain or minimize the amount of lean body mass.

Also consider you want to look at net carbs. Veggies are full of fiber which is good for your digestive system. Aiming for 30-50g of fiber a day would be ideal.

My bigger question is, how tall are you and do you exercise? 1350 seems low for someone your size as the majority of women I know are losing at 1700-2100, which means maintaining at 2100-2500.

I am 5'1" and I exercise everyday, cardio everyday and heavy weights on M W F. I am eating under my tdee as I should be quite higher. I kinda fell into a below 1400 grove as I was cutting now I want to bring it up higher as I want to add muscle. I'm concerned on gaining when I do up my calories. I have been upping it slowly from 1200 to now but I believe I still have a way to go, I should be in the 1600 range I believe.

Not sure I understand the question. a cup of veg is likely to be under 10 grams of carbs and certainly under 20g.

Of the ones listed carrots are the highest carb content.

It is nearly impossible to overeat on veggies. (Prove me wrong) But I don't think anyone in human history has gotten fat on just vegetables. Eat them as much as your heart desires.

1st step - get it out of your head that carbs are bad.

If you have a goal of gaining muscle then you should drop the cardio to 2 days or less. This will also help you with lowering your tdee which makes hitting a surplus easier. Also lots of cardio can be counterproductive during bulks. Also keep in mind that add mass means adding weight. In fact, probably 50% of your weight gain will be new fat. Its inevitable and this is why a cut is required post bulk.

Four cups of mostly low-carb (carrots are a bit higher) veggies is not too many by any definition I've seen. Even on Atkins induction you can (and should) eat that much or more.

throw you into a diabetic shock...no just teasing it is fine please don't worry about carbohydrates in vegetables.

And poor carrots always get a bad name theres only like 3g more for 100g compared to something like broccoli.

How many carbs are you getting?

I just looked up my vegetable rich stir-fry I made the other day, and it was 23 grams of carbs per serving. And not all those carbs will be from the vegetables.

I find fruit to be much higher in carbs, but I don't worry too much about those.

If you are really concerned then try upping your calories using protein and healthy fat rich food instead of more veges.

Mostly I think this LOW-CARB thing is just an overreaction to the LOW-FAT thing.
When everyone was eliminating fat they replace it with carbs... So now carbs are the enemy...

Now let's see our macros are: CARBS - FAT - PROTEINS
Now, that means all food fall's into at least 1 of those 3 categories, many foods are a combination of at least 2 of these categories.
You are going to have a hard time if you severely restrict any category.

Rather than demonizing a whole category of the food I try and keep any eye on the types of Fat, Carbs and Proteins I eat :

    Balance-
    1) COMPLEX Carbs (Fiber)
    2) HAPPY Fats (Mono and Poly Unsaturated fats, good for brain and nerve function, helps prevent diabetes and depression)
    3) LEAN Proteins.

I THINK the key is nutrient dense foods ...
The purpose of eating is to fuel your body, hunger is the signals that your body needs fuel/nutrients.
When you eat crap, your body doesn't get the nutrition it needs and you will be hungry much sooner than if you had nutritious food.

Don't deprive your body of nutrition and micronutrients because they are packaged as carbs or fats

The only way it might be "too much" is if you are trying to do Keto, and even then, what you mentioned sounds OK.

If you are going over on carbs, I'd look at your goals setup and make sure they are correct.

If you want to lose weight, the only thing you really need to worry about getting too much of is calories. And you won't get too many of those eating vegetables.

    Bump

Was your question not answered ? I wasn't going to chime in since several people have already answered your question, no, that is not too many carbs, not by a long shot. I'm confused why the bump.

I bumped the wrong post, oops. Anyway since I'm here I'll update. With the info I was given I am still eating a boatload of veggies, still about 6 cups a day, mixed between raw and cooked. Hopefully everyones info is correct and I'm not overloading on the carbs and hindering my progress. Have a great week everyone ????
