Protein Goals

I've been seeing a lot of protein posts lately. Does protein reallly affect your weightloss? I've noticed that if I don't reach around 90 to 100 g of protein a day then I kind of sit at a stall(Calories normally have to be around 1500 for me to lose any weight as well.) Anyone else experience this?
I was just curious.
By the way, my stats: Female, 18 years old, Weight: Around 156, (Started at 178).

Protein is good for your muscles and brain. It doesn't cause weight loss. Burning more calories than you consume causes weigh loss.0
