This is a silly question but I've been wondering...

when someone says 'I squat X kg' or 'DL X kg',do they include the weight of the Olympic bar , which I believe weighs approx 20kg?

Thanks

    20 + 20 + 20 = 61? I think I must've done something different in my maths classes at school....:flowerforyou:

I looked online for the answer to this question a week or so ago and the general answer is yes you should include tha bar. You're lifting the bar so you include the bar.

This means that after a couple of months of training - I'm slightly better than untrained according to this: http://www.exrx.net/Testing/WeightLifting/StrengthStandards.html
I'm not as strong as a novice though.
  • Yes, the bar is included. A lifting total is the TOTAL weight lifted. You must also include the weight of the collars, if significant.
