Til I purchase a polar product how is this cal burn calc?

http://www.exrx.net/Calculators/WalkRunMETs.html

So until I gather enpough money to purchase a polar HRM thingy what do you think of this calculator?

I read on a website (link below) someone saying its more accurate than a HRM:

http://caloriecount.about.com/forums/fitness/im-trying-figure-calculate-calories-burned

"I can't speak for the other ones, but this calculator is based on the ACSM energy prediction equations (that's a good thing).

The equations are not that difficult to program into even a cheapo treadmill console. I suspect that you will find that the calculations on the above site come very close to what is displayed on a commercial treadmill. And, in this case, the calculations will be more accurate than a heart rate monitor."

What's your opinions? I don't agree with that comment because the calculator doesn't ask for age and IDK just would be better if it asked for age haha

I just tried the website and it gave me about 60 calories less than what I recorded on my treadmill with my HRM, so I'd say that it is close enough. It's better to underestimate your calorie burns than to accidentally overeat because you think you've "earned" it.

Thank you so much for doing that :) I shall use this till I buy a polar HMR
