How many times to weight train a week?

Seeing a PT Saturday to give me a workout on free weights. I go to the gym mon-fri, how often should I be lifting? Every other workout with cardio in between? Weekends are rest days where I only walk the dog

    A good total-body lifting routine is usually done 3 times per week.
