Shoveling snow...seems legit, right?

Its only been three days since we've got enough snow to shovel. And you bet your butt I've been out there shoveling every single day..not because I have to but because I cant pay for a gym membership and I figured this was the best workout I'd get. My arms are sore, the back of my legs are sore, even my hands are sore. (Luckily not my back) but I started feeling like I want to go outside and shovel. The second day I dreaded it. So just a helpful hint. You cant make it to the gym and have some snow in your beighborhood, grab a shovel and move some snow!

Shoveling snow and cutting grass were significant sources of income for me as a kid........no doubt it's a workout!

Ha! There was a debate just yesterday about whether or not shoveling snow is exercise. Those who actually have done it voted yes. Those who haven't voted no.

    Go figure.

People die from heart attacks when shoveling snow .. I think that says a lot. It is definitely exercise, those that have never done it are clueless.

Last year in CT we had that 38 inch snowstorm. Anyone who says shoveling that isn't a workout needs to go away.

One poster claimed snow shovelling wasn't exercise because it accomplished something.

    WTF.

Shoveling snow is a heck of a workout, and about the only non-exercise activity that I will actually log on MFP. An hour vigorously shoveling snow will leave me more tired than an hour running or an hour lifting weights.

Agreed. When it's in drifts up to your knees or higher, it's definitely a workout!

My school told us we had to move our car's after the storm so that they could plow the lots. This is what our cars looked like under the snow.

Needless to say, we were unable to move our cars and raged at the school. They realized that we were right and figured out how to deal with it.
