What do you do to avoid or delay eating?

I eat when I'm discouraged and I eat to celebrate a success. I'm trying to change that paradigm. So far the only thing that has been consistently successful is to drink water first. But this is boring.

I have been making really good progress with a very unwanted tendency to binge under pressure, and yesterday, Thanksgiving

Of all days, I really blew it.

In the past, I would have taken that as the signal to slam into gear and eat all of the sugar in the Northeast.

But this morning, I've acknowledged what I've done, discussed what was happening yesterday, and focused on what I'm going to do

with the rest of THIS DAY.

And instead of feeling helpless and hopeless, I feel stronger than I did even before yesterday happened.

My typical technique is to assess, plan, and pray. I forgot the "pray" part yesterday and I think it would have helped.

Nothing new or startling I know, but although I thought I had gained back all I've lost in a single miserable two hour stretch, I haven't.

Anything I can do to divert the binge-crave demon is a good thing. For me, prayer works, but for you, chewing gum or meditation or

Tying flies may do what you need.
