As I tell my family - I have no intention of dying. If death comes near me I'll rip his nipples off.

But if I must go, I'll go with the Spike Milligan classic -

"I told you I was ill."
  • I don't care what they say (I am what I am), but I want this song played.

There are places I remember/ All my life though some have changed/ Some forever, not for better/ Some have gone and some remain

All these places have their moments/ With lovers and friends I still can recall/ Some are dead and some are living/ In my life I've loved them all

But of all these friends and lovers/ There is no one compares with you/ And these memories lose their meaning/ When I think of love as something new

Though I know I'll never lose affection/ For people and things that went before/ I know I'll often stop and think about them/ In my life I love you more

Though I remember I’ll never lose affection/ For people and things that went before/ I know I’ll often stop and think about them/ In my life I’ll love you more/ In my life I’ll love you more

That is lovely and on my death songlist as well.

What? You don't have a songlist? You probably haven't written a message from beyond for all your people either have you? My message, when I finally get around to writing it, is going to end with the phrase, "So it goes."T

ETA: Thinking of adding Elton John's "The Bi otch is Back" to the list as well, just to make sure my kids know I'm still watching.

I don't really have an epitaph, either, but I'd like Sixx A.M.'s "Life is Beautiful" played. Because everyone had better be standing around telling all my stupid, embarrassing stories and laughing!

You can't quit until you try
You can't live until you die
You can't learn to tell the truth
    Until you learn to lie

You can't breathe until you choke
You gotta laugh when you're the joke
There's nothing like a funeral to make you feel alive

    Just open your eyes
    Just open your eyes
And see that life is beautiful.
Will you swear on your life,
That no one will cry at my funeral?

I want 'Thus though we cannot make our sun/Stand still, yet we will make him run'

My husband wants, 'I volunteer for any resurrection program you invent.'

I'd like mine to have the cultural meaning of my names:

    "Brave Warrior; The People's Victory"

Makes me sound like I kicked some serious *kitten*. Ha! I think it would start some conversations and perhaps intrigue people enough to do some research. I like research. I'm always trying to teach people something. :)

I just went to check out your profile...so it is a good epitaph cos people want to check you out

    Haha! I'm 6'1"

/Slaps forehead now I know why I love you so much! All my closest friends are over 6 ft. I swear at the mall I look like their kid! One day I want them to each grab my hand and swing me like we do our children when they are 5 or 6, but I need to get them to lift first! Seems I am a bit stronger than them these days

I try not to think about dying at all, but if when I do I want the money that would be spent on a stupid funeral, to be spent on a party, a vacation, a ski trip..........I will be cremated and ashes thrown into the ocean where I can feed the fish.

I will not be there-it will not matter.

I would love if everyone got up and danced at my funeral ( I can think of a few that would right now!) Seriously! A good song played loudly and everyone must get up and dance.

The most important thing it could say about me is

"She loved. She encouraged all she met. She lived until she died. We cannot believe she was 101~~!!":drinker:

Mine would have this quote said by Dr. Jonathan Chase at the end of the Manimal pilot episode:

"Don't think about that which you cannot do, but rather that which might become possible if you allow your imagination to run free."

Underneath it would be, "Do this before it's too late."

I want mine to say something really cryptic, so that my surviving friends and relatives spend their lives investigating my inevitably mysterious death.

    I'm thinking

'When the green chicken dances among the willows, Hear the nostalgic trident and enter through the exploding gramophone'

when I used to play guitar in a rock band (many years ago) I wrote my own epitaph in the lyrics of one of our songs

when I die lord, bury me deep
and lay my guitar right at my feet
so when that I do burn in hell
I'll play those god-damned blues so well

but I've kind of outgrown it. I want a palaeoanthropology themed one now.
