Road Trip advice

The last two days I basically fell off the wagon with Thanksgiving. I am getting back at it today with logging and exercising. I have a three day road trip and vacation coming up in seven days. I am not as worried about the days I am actually on vacation because I am usually rather active and it usually seems to balance out. My big concern is the six days (three days there and back) of traveling. We are going to be in the car for 8-9 hours most days so there is very little activity. We are traveling with two toddlers and a dog. With the dog we cannot go into a place to eat which unfortunatly will mean a fast option for lunch.

I was going to pack some tangerines and maybe bananas for snacks in the car but looking for some healthy, not to messy ideas for me and the kids. My main plan is to maintain my weight during this trip so I have about 1700 calories to work with. Those will go quickly eating out.

Grapes are perfect for kids, Quaker chewy granola bars (the crunchy ones are too crumby). Maybe bring a little cooler and do cheese sticks too (protein will be good for you too, to keep you full). Also, look at the fast food menus before you start. A lot of decent options. My favorite is the Apple Pecan salad from Wendy's and the premium chicken wrap from McDonald's. You could also make and pack sandwiches before you left. I've also done cold grilled cheese or even quesadillas for kids in the car, they won't fall apart.
